New Version, New Bugs
I've been checking through the old bug reports. Many of these bugs have been fixed in the new version. I would like to get this new version as bug-free as possible.

Let me get things started:

- Chatroom's CSS is all messed up...
- Mailbox seems to have PMs switched around...

I'm on IE5. My vote button has disappeared. Also, I just posted a new topic here about that very thing but it vanished when I hit post. I'm keeping this short since I 'm not sure if it's going to work either.

I'm not sure about IE5. Is that mac or pc version?

BTW, fixed the problem about the threads. It was a problem with the http.conf parsing the page properly and recognizing the $_POST variable. Threads should post just fine now...

Sorry about that, I went to sleep late last night, and just switched bandamp to the new version before going to bed. I was meaning to beta test more, but couldn't help but pass out.

Yes, definatelly an IE bug. I'll focus on IE bugs once the general kinks are worked out of the system.

Firefox / Opera are both free open source applications you could use, if you wanted to switch browsers.

Thanks for the kind words.

Yeah it looks great - I had to clear my browser cache before it showed up properly though (using FireFox)

Umm, the blog function is still not all there. Just tried to post an elaborate post, didn't show up. I know that short blogs with single word subjects will work, and editing from there works too, but big blogs just won't show up.

(EDIT: sorted now!)

and.. I see some songs which didn't previously get a rating because they had less than 20 votes now DID get a ranking... Like in the May battle... A song of mine had gotten third, now it's sixth, but the 3 songs ranking higher did not have enough votes back then.

And I really think the smiley overlaps the function of the smiley.. I liked the previous much better! How about replacing it with (a blue version of) this: one? :)

Ok, blog function should work now for long posts.

I'll switch the icon in a little bit.

Yeah... I did switch the algo to include people with just as little as 15 votes. I did not think any of the final results were changed in the process though? Are you referring to the results on the beta version before anyone saw it? Or did I overwrite the scores for some of the newer battles? I thought they were not live yet. Had not updated the battles page on the www.bandamp.com version for at least 6 months.

Oh, actually.. Have you looked on the top right hand side? There are five blue stars?

That's the vote feature. Same idea, just tucked away a little nicer. And it's AJAX.

yeah, seems you did overwrite the scores to some of the newer battles!

I can live with it... Though I am not too pleased about it I don't think the star system is very visible btw. We already have had quite some problems with enough members voting, how will they understand what the stars are even for? Plus, voting with 20% step increments seems a bit too crude, IMO. But it's not that important... It's all for fun anyway.

hmm, there's a bug on my music page - I got these big stars telling me the rankings to the songs I've had in the battles, but they push my Song Upload text fields to the side, leaving only very thin text boxes to write my descriptions in. It seems these text fields should be place beneath them instead.

I can get rid of the songs with less than 15 votes from the battles. I just figured it would still be possible to get rid of them, but once they are deleted from the battle no way to get them back. So, if you guys still think we should have 20 votes minimum, we can do that. Or, if you want to do 15, we can do that.

I made the music page so when you are logged in as the user, the stars dont appear. They only show up to everyone else. They seem kinda like an annoying thing to get in the way when you have the form there as Puppet pointed out.

About the voting.. I could put an additional vote box (exactly like the one we had before) with 10 ratings. Perhaps this would be better?

Well Mud me personally I don't think you should be able to give a vote under 50% so what if there was 6 stars...the first being 50% then up by 10% for each star? This would eliminate sabotage votes and personally Ive only heard one song on this site that wasn't at least mediocre. I never understood why the voting started at 10% Just my thoughts.......How bad would a piece of someones creativity and emotions have to be to receive 10%?  I just don't think its possible.......and useless to have the voting start so low, all it does is enable the few bad apples to mess with the rankings and battle outcomes.
