Just What I Needed -2D-
*
Here is our (Mine and GuitarWizards/zachs) 2nd draft for our cover of Just What I Needed by The Cars.
I think that this is a lot better than our first draft. (Just What I Needed -FD-) (the -2D- in the title stands for 2nd draft)

Enjoy!
(Final draft coming soon)

So rate if you want...we are working on a better one...the intro is a little messed up but I really like the ending.

Man after I have listened to this over and over I realize that we do have a lot of work ahead of us, but hey we whipped this together in 2 hours or less. As we speak we are working on better versions, and cleaner recordings.
We are also saving up to get the Digitech RP500 Multi Effects Pedal/Processor that i can plug into my new Behringer XENYX 1204FX Mixer, so we can have a bunch more effects.

I am using Audacity to edit. Does anyone have any suggestions on anything that will make the sound better? A different editing software or something?
I just spent a bunch of money on this mixer that I use to record to the computer so...Im hoping its the software...

I think 'your sound' sounds real good, you have a beautiful warm close feel to it.
You may need to put a shit load of work into playing, producing and actual song writing, because I miss the rest of the band here.....oo a screeching solo! my ears ...!

We didnt actually write this song...this is a cover of Just What I Needed by The Cars...but we will be posting some written songs that we have done soon.

Yeah we need to keep practicing, we are fairly new to this...but this gives you a taste of what is to come I suppose.
Thanks for the comment!

Yeah
I hope you enjoyed that solo....Had to record it like 50 times over to get it right, and it STILL could be better. i dont know. i just dont think this was THE BEST song to do considering theres so many instrument fills and theres like 4 synth parts and such. but we will find a good song to do, that sounds RIGHT in the future.

Like I said before..I have always loved this song...This is sounding really cool.. I would like to hear some Vocals. The tempo does sound to be a little slow...Just need to do some touching up on the recording....Overall nice work TheKunadiun...keep it up....

Thanks for the comment. Yeah we are still working on it. (We are very new to this lol)
But hopefully we will be able to edit in lyrics and drums soon, and record it a little bit better. You know with better timing and all the fills and everything.
Thanks and keep listening!

clipping ...
sounds like your getting to hot of a signal in the path to the computer somewhere..  Check to make sure that all stages of your signal path are not too hot.  input into the mixer, subgroups( if you have them) , master out of the mixer/input into the computer. .. your getting digital clipping at times.

love the song, The Cars were/are ? cool.   good choice.  you need to set a click track up and practice it over and over and over and over and over..... you get the idea... 2 hrs is not enough time to polish up a cover tune imho.

good start though.   keep em coming, cause the more you record and play the better you'll get.

When you say that the signal path is too hot...do you mean that the levels going to the computer are too high?
I am not really sure what that means lol.

thanks! yeah we're gonna keep on practicing and recording. I figured out some techniques to get better sound quality as well...muahahhahahaa

Heya craig!

Swordfish makes a very good point. It just sound like a jumbled practice session, and if we put all of our song demos and practice sessions public, people will think we stink!

Why/what are you posting?

I am posting drafts of me and my friends, and If you want I can delete them after we get a final version, but I just wanted to let the public know that we are progressing.
Sorry, you do not have access to post...
