thanks so much, all of you   I've been listening to this on repeat, myself, hoping to pick it apart and find what I can do to it to make it better and better.

painkiller, I acknowledge your comment, though I hope you don't mistake all dissonance for out-of-tune singing.  Some of the dissonance is intentional, as with the chords finishing each verse.  Again though, I do acknowledge the faults that are present!

I'm just returned from Canada (again), and I'll be slammed with some homework that I wasn't properly shouldering during my spring break, but I'll be sure to get back onto this project as soon as I can!

Thanks, fish, for your comments as well!  Dispite any problems in the song, encouragement is the best motivation for doing an even better job each shot at a recording session

Love it.

Love the guitar. Reminds me of Actually Sorry 2.0!

Which was also a good song.

You have such a wonderful and unique style of vocals.

It's great.

I vote .

haha... sooo, i feel pretty stupid.  let me explain :P

while making a new 2-mic recording, I realized why the pick is so freakin annoying in this mix here... I never did the soft limiting of the high frequencies on it... my compression curve was just boosting the low frequencies while the high ones were also getting boosted a little.  Normally I curve it off so that frequencies higher than -12db (or -6db if required) get deamplified.  'Twas not the case in this recording!  My bad.  After adding the soft limit, the mix was infinitely better.

However, I'm making a new recording that I should be posting pretty soon.. couple of days or so.  I need to sort out a couple more issues in volume.

Anyway, thanks again for the comments, everyone.  I'll try to do you proud for this next upload (which, whether or not it's perfect, will likely be my last upload for the song, as I don't want to litter the forums with my old versions.)

while making a new 2-mic recording,

Picked up a xm5800?  I need a mixer with more than one XLR input.

indeed--- i did.  It was the most logical choice, given the budget i'm on   thanks muchly for the suggestion.  I bought it while i was away in canada and it arrived at my house the same day i got home, so it was perfect.

My current mixer only has one such input, but my other mic is a standard phono cable, which goes nicely into the mono jack for such contraptions on the back of the board.  it's perfect for me right now :P

3 mics... that would get a little iffy, unless i go for another few phono-cable ones and use my array of adapters to change it into a different input that I can use!  (we'll avoid 3 mics for now :P not worth the headache!)
