Im concerned, Kings.  If this backup forum is a way to keep 'all' us Bandamp members together then Im wondering if everyone is seeing this post?  Is there anyway to make it more obvious?  Maybe start a thread just for the forum?

Did we get a reply from mud? It seems that someone (PX) did. But what was it? How come he hasn't addressed the site yet? I haven't heard word from mud in....months. Not since he made Pup and Jim mods. It worries me a lot. Without any real administration, I have watched this site deteriorate over the past few months. It is not what it used to be. There are a lot of the bugs, and I think a lot of the community is getting frustrated. The battle system is totally askew. We've had a lot of discussion about that, and a lot of great ideas and input, but without mud and/or an active, competent programmer, the site really has gone downhill, in terms of upkeep and member input. I'm all for group discussions like this, they are useful and have been useful in the past, but without action they're not any good.

Thanks, Kings, for that backup site. I joined. It's the first real step anyone has taken around here in a while. I mean no offense to mud, but this is the way I feel; what needs to be preserved here is the community. If moving away from BandAmp and creating our own new domain is necessitated by that goal, then so be it. However, right now I don't think a drastic step like that is at all appropriate. We do need to give mud a chance to reply. I would dearly love to see mud publicly address the problems at hand, and accept the offer of Lady Dawn to take over programming here. But, like I said, if mud can't or won't act, someone needs to, to preserve the community. It's failing in stagnation.

As you address some of that towards me , I'll react , the community keeps the community together , Muds offering us the chance to be part of something special (if we make it so).

The 'Emergency Forum' is in NO WAY meant as a step away from bandAmp, it is what it says it is, a place to gather IF bandAmps code would fault! I don't really think that Mud would just 'pull the plug' , but it could just not work for a while while he's in Peekingpong or wherever doing whatever he does!

Id rather see our little endeavours into hosting sites as 'branches' or 'seedlings' of bandAmp and not 'hacked' fire wood stolen by a neighbour!

Your not moving into my domain to necessitate your goals!!!!lol
Ha! If you were too, as the Administrator of the Forum site I could ban you until you review 3 songs at bandAmp, IF it's still alive at the time.

Cheers for checking in too!

As we speak Bandamp Chat is down again.  Its indicative of problems all over the board.  Come on you stubborn mules.  Take 5 mins. to register!

This is all it is

If we all think of it as what it is, just a way to stay in contact when the amp goes down, I mean some of us have skype, and have kept in contact that way, but some don't have it. and others dont want it...So, this works well, and Kings is gracious enough to host it, so, I say it's a fine idea..  Bandamp actually hasn't been too bad lately, I must admit, it seems to be hanging on, The chat wasn't really down, there was some lag time on the server, causing it to  time out, that has resolved itself now, but that doesn't mean it can't happen again, and possibly take the server down... so we must be prepared..

I'm not proposing something like "let's move into King's site and desert band amp". Not at all. I'm proposing, "Band Amp is a great site, but it also has a lot of problems. Let's fix them."

I don't believe the site is fine at all just being left the way it is.

The 10 Thousand Years was in Reference to a song  That Reflex and I collaborated on.....The end of time

I hope The site continues..I Don't think I'm the only member that has the same thoughts on this matter...But
I have often thought about it coming to a end at one time or another....yes its very possible this could happen
Thanks for taking the time to get the emergency site goin  Kings

Maybe??
I know there is one other person with close to the
same level of programming lady dawn has.. tha's
Minds at Play.. there for a few days I missed my
bro, and wasn't sure where he had gotten to.. but
he's ever bit as competent as LD is...  maybe not
as far along in college as she got, but hey, the degree
don't mean nuttin without practical experience..
which I believe they both actually have.. Tom is
well versed in Visual basic and a few others it seems
too..  so I would almost say maybe they both would
be good in taking it together if Map was game.. even
though I know ld has been playing catch up with a few
of the latest changes in css and php..  I over heard her
say the other night, she thought some of what they had
done was pretty kewl..  I found my dongle key to 3D
Studio Max today..  that, some autocad style artwork
and then integrate a little flash to the 3D.S.M. and
very smoothly with the Visual Basic.. well nothing would
really change that much.. the look would still be basically
the exact same.. just get the bugs and kinks worked out of
the existing code and add a few mouse over anim'd things
here and there.. well here I go rambling..  oi vey..  hey, I
don't do nutting but some graphics...  so don't look at me..

But hey, thought M.a.p. might consider getting in on it too..
two minds are better then one...   no, not two minds at play,
heaven forbid there be two of that child runnin around these
halls.. lolol.. j/k...

blessings,

Hey Blue, there is nothing to get in on.. I don't understand where your going with this... I think you are thinking too far ahead of yourself here...  This forum belongs to a large corporation, and is funded by them, through the use of a charitable foundation, and performing arts grants.. It is not something that anyone can just take over the coding on...  Minds at Play I'm sure is a capable programmer, and he certainly can ask Mud, in a PM if he needs the help, as can LD.. But, I don't think plotting who is going to take over the programming of the site in this thread is going to make much difference..  It is something that should be addressed in private between Mud and the people who are interested...  Don't misunderstand me, I think it's nice to want to help, but I think we need to remember that this is MUD's world, and we are all just squirrels trying to get a nut....

Jimmy...
No, NOT TAKE OVER!!! just share programmer's
chores.. and well yea, I was day dreaming about
seeing some neat graphics like the lead guitar player
on the front page swipe his arm across his axe when
ever anyone first logged in..  or ya know, just little
fiddley faddley day dreaming about mousing across
the forum button and it open a little list of all of them
before you click on it and it takes ya to the list - forum
page.. that kinda thought processes, hundreds of them
all going in hundreds of different directions at the same
time..  but naw, wasn't meaning take over the sight.. just
the two of them sharing the chores....
