What are the most sought after sounds?
I'm from a new sample library company called Digital Redux.

We are throwing ideas around the studio as to what content we should develop for our next releases, and we thought that the best place to start would be to ask fellow producers what they are in need of, or can't get enough of, or want to see more of....

We have a bunch of release out now (Hip Hop Hotness, D&B 4 The Headz, Properly Chilled, Hacienda House & ElectroTech).  If you'd like to check them out then download the free demo content - http://digital-redux.com/downloads.html

Anyone have any suggestions?

Cheers!

Come on guys, this is NOT blatant advertisement.

Given that I cannot be found spending $40 on a sample CD - - - I wouldn't want to dismiss this post as "spam" right away. Try conversing with mr DigitalRedux first, before making such judgements.

So, um, well, personally I won't be spending that amount of money. I would be interested in a sample library comprised of animal sounds, street sounds (birds mainly, since so many bird species make such different types of sounds, and they can be used melodically, like instruments), choirs, classical vocals, thunderclap, rain, water (streams, sea sounds) and such. And distorted guitar hits. All of which I would incorporate in industrial/techno type soundscapes.

But, $40 for a CD is too much, I think you'd get a higher net profit (by increased sales) if you lower the price to $10 (or possible $15). That's as high as I would go, as a consumer, and if the quality, the quantity and the diversity(!)of the samples would suffice my needs ofcourse.

Other than that, welcome ofcourse, DigitalRedux! I hope you enjoy your stay.

100mb of free samples is worth my pennies worth, Right now i'm constantly looking for decent brass + double bass, recorded super dry so can slice them, a C major double bass scale would be the bees knees ... and so my library grows 20gigs and counting XD

I agree with PX, this really doesn't look like spam -
he's not telling us to go to any site, he's not trying to sell anything (directly to us, at least.)

He's gathering information for his product, in the form of musician input/opinion.

Sounds to me like this guy is using the site for what it's meant for, and we'd be hypocrites to turn him away so quickly.

And I'm sorry, Redux, but I have no real experience dealing with samples, so I can't help you much. But I am sure there are loads of people around here who could give you some really valuable input.

PuppetXeno - I've been thinking about your reply and that you'd expect to see libraries for about $10-15. It's hard to break even at that price as it takes a lot of work to develop a library but i'm interested to know why you think they should be so cheap,, $40 is considered budget. Anyway is it because for unless is a real low price then you'd just find it for free somewhere? you can be honest i'm not the interest police and i'm realistic about the free aspect

Devo - Brass and Double Bass, I'll add that to the list, we are going for more session players on the next releases

Oldies324 - Thank for the support

Real musicians make their own music,
Pro producers buy anything / everything so as to have that library.
People who have difficulty navigating a free hacked FL are not going to buy samples for 40 bucks, they make their own if they are that way inclined or they just don't think about it and don't get further than DNC_Kick.wav!

Anyway , got any samples of an argument?
And a merry Christmas

Kings - Obviously this thread isn't aimed at you, you're too advanced in musical skill for this. But i'd say a fair number of good producers use samples regularily and make good music, Sometime the skill is in what you do with the sounds, vibe, etc.. For example, If you dont have the room, time or money to record live drum kit, If you cant afford to record a string quartet, etc...

I'd prefer to keep this constructive but is this what this forum is like?

We can be a little harsh if we think it's someone just trying to push off a product ( if you can tell we don't like spam).  The fact the you are responding show that you are at least interested in interacting with bandamp members.

I have tons of stuff ,  washing machine with tennis shoes or something banging around in it,also washing machine off kilter, load all on one side (thump thump thump ..)  The sound of a dryer with something like a coin stuck in the edge of the barrel thing , I don't know if you have heard that but it has a very unique sound to it.

whistles of all kinds ...trains , Fred Flinstone getting off work type of thing, some one who whistles pretty good doing a song.

All orchestra instrument with a good recording for a reasonable price (waves bundles are out of my price range)

walking .high heel, boots, soft shoes..running/jogging,

arguing/fighting/ warfare/bombs /gun sounds of all kinds
sexual sounds from love making to hard core porn style (sorry but he asked)
also love talk stuff like  deep male like Luther Van(sp)os talking lovey dovey stuff . plus very sultry womens voice talking love stuff too.

All animal sounds from cats meowing to cats fighting, dogs, birds, everything and all animals.

I am just getting started but this post is long so I'll stop here.

Hey Toasty , why don't you start selling Producers Sample CDs , you seem to have all the right sounds.

I have drum loops , hundreds of them, and most of those I've made into different versions of rx2 files with ReCycle ready for Cubase and FL, otherwise I have about 8GB of samples very similar in description to Toasty's.

"Kings - Obviously this thread isn't aimed at you, you're too advanced in musical skill for this"....ymm....thank you ???!!!
I have an ex wife and ex mother in law who are both psychologists

So as I was implying above, I dont think your going to get many 'sales' through the Amp , suggestions you may get though, this is true.

It's a strange business, people looking for 'any' sample can pick them up for free, someone looking for a particular sample will either make their own or buy the 'better quality' ones. Dont get get me wrong I'm not saying you dont have good quality samples I simply think you have to come up with something unique to actually get it off the ground these days!
And people dont use sounds in the same way as say 'stock photos'

Happy Boxing day

Mean while I'm still checking out your samples, I quite like what you have on the end of that link.
My Media Player wouldn't/couldn't play the waves but my Wavelab did, very nice sounds.
I like your synth melodies in particular. You offer some very nice free demo samples.
Just jumping on your band wagon for a second, would formats like .rx2 or sf2's be popular as downloads?
