I have never been a fan of the idea that our songs are right out there for anyone to download them as they wish....I don't think that the Non members should have that privilege. We need to set up some kind of a standard for downloads...what kind of a standard? I have no idea. But, I'll be coming back to this thread when I think I have a good idea for it

mmm... about the downloads, I think it's a perfectly valid idea to start putting some control on it.  We don't want to go overboard, really, but it would be nice to give each user the option for each of his/her songs to share them publicly or only allow member-downloads (or not at all?  i always hate it when i can't download a song that I like, but if we give a an inch, the users will want to steal 2, eh? )

i think that it should replace the "house mix"... we can still call it the House Mix if we want, but it really needs to reflect the highest rated songs for the month or something, as Vincent suggests

I've found my self agreeing with Toasty twice now that there should be a forum for spam links, because some of them are truly useful links, within the musicians world, Yes some are truly spam but then having them all in one 'Advertisements' forum would make them a lot more useful and accessible.
I have a suggestion :
Why not move the News and Events forum down to the bottom of the list (Recording is more important anyway!) and re-name it Adverts, News and Event or something , explaining that it's a forum specially set aside for any adverts, spam and links as long as they have a musical content and intent !  
It's not used much anyway, and these kind of links kind of fit there.

As its difficult to eat an elephant i strongly go along with the prioritisation of MARINO's first couple of ideas

1-Fix ratting system(Plays and downloads)............there has been lots of traffic on this topic
......partcularly from Blakhatz
.... and my opinion that the site is a free meal
.....for non members..BUT ITS A MEMBERS SITE

2-Clean house.(accounts with 2 years of inactive)..........
....would this help the site and/or the server speed up??
....if yes then do it!!!
