MARKETING The AMP Vol I |
It's time for all of us to promote and Market "The AMP Vol I"
Here is a list of where the album can be purchased.
iTunes Mexico
Rhapsody
Amazon MP3
iTunes U.S.
iTunes Australia/N.Z.
Amazon On Demand (When access the album on Amazon, it gives the option the buy Cd version - but it's not active at the moment, I'm looking into it)
iTunes Canada
iTunes UK/European Union
iTunes Japan
The first step is to contact all your friends and family. It is important that you make them aware all proceeds are going to charity http://www.vh1savethemusic.com/
I would suggest to give them links to their local distributors, note if they would rather have a CD, this can be purchased from Amazon. you can only access this through Amazon.com, but they can distribute it worldwide I believe.(Edit** for some reason the CD option is not currently active, I'm looking into it)
I would also ask your friends and family to spread the word onto their friends, unless you already know them of course. Fais54 did this recently with the launch of his own album and sold around 10 albums when it was launched, So the more of us make the effort the more we will sell.
PLEASE USE THIS THREAD TO UPDATE US WITH HOW YOU ARE MARKETING THE ALBUM, LET US KNOW HOW WELL YOU ARE DOING.
Anyone with any ideas on how else we can market the album, please let us know in this thread.

Hey, Denis
I think we should move this to The Pit? More likely for people to see it there.
Also..how do you access the Amazon On Demand option?

The thread is where it should be, it wont make a difference if it goes in the PIT
I question how many Ampers will make the effort to market the Album? Please proove me wrong.....
The thread needs to go on the announcements section (Front page) to get really noticed, I'm not sure though it warrants an announcement, what do you think AMPERS??
Interesting that I checked to see if Amazon had the option for a CD, to my surprise it was not there? It should say "Also available on CD". I'm sure it was there when it first went up, needless to say I've sent Tuncore an email to sort it out.
cd on demand |
Will take some weeks to boot up in my experience anywayz.
Buying a copy of the album and a few others by well known artists will bring up the :those who bought this also bought this; link in the amazon page.
Though by the time you pay for the cds plus the regular postage from amazon you're looking at $80+ for 3 cds.

;)
How are you calculating $80? Thats $25+ per CD?????
excellent price calculations there. selling CDs online like that through a large company like tunecore or amazon has got to burn a hole in your pocket

Cds were about $17 each but mid range postage was $35 ...express e.g 4 day delivery will set you back $50 and budget about $20 but you won't see the product for up to 6 weeks .
I went with mid range and took about 3 weeks. ;)
I went on Amazon.com, the best sellers sell for a max of $9.99?????????????????????
your right |
The prices change tho.
just saw $19 through $7.99 range for one artist on albums going back to 2002 release.
Tune core told me they don't have choice for price set by some distributors e.g itunes.
But you can set the price range in amazon front line mid line etc, I think you can up date tunecore shop to change those prices.
But get this , I ve been doing children's audio stories and posting to itunes+ etc..
the first one 10 min duration as mp3 download is 99c on amazon but $12.99 on itunes.
Itunes call it an album or EP where as amazon calls it a single.
Live and learn

I much prefer Amazon, I don't see how anyone is going to pay $12.99 for a ten min story - surly that's a mistake on iTunes part?
Anyway back to marketing, I think initially all we need to do is spread the word to our friends and family to buy the album.
I still think that very few members will make the effort to spread the word to sell the album. When Tuncore advise me of the first results of what's been sold, probably something between Nil and 5 albums/or a few singles I anticipate, it may give members the motivation to promote the album. If it does not sell, I'll remove it from Tunecore, seems pointless me spending money for nothing, plus I put a lot of time and effort producing it - but I will give members a chance to sell it before I remove it, if that does not motivate them, I don't know what else will??
Thought I'd chime in...
I've been to a few websites/forums trying to spark an interest in the album, or get feedback. It's been going alright so far. I've told my friends about it, so a few copies of 'Chop It Up' as well as other songs may have been sold. Since this is/was essentially my project, I wouldn't want to see it 'bite the dust'. This is a great Marketing/PR opportunity for a lot of artists on here..so they should get a step on getting it heard.
I know vincentL has promoted it some on facebook..so has Denis.
Let's keep this alive people.

Man, I would say the same.
Well, here in Chile (almost) no one buys music on internet. Is not as usual as it's in N.A or Eu.
Anyway, I hope we have some luck with this...

You may agree with them, but you couldn't be any more wrong. There's a huge market for indie music, and every day 'crappy songs that were made in some guys basement' turn out to be huge mainstream songs, that gain huge followings. With that aside, I'll keep working to keep people to buy the album. We should sell a nice amount.
