Clockwork

This song is not in a battle

Hmhmmmmm one from the retro archives then...

Happy birthday to me I joined the club of "ancients" today

This song is actually about how it is impossible to outrun the progress of time, not that the lyrics are that obvious but I had a lot of fun throwing this one together. Features a Boss DR 55 for drums, a Zoom 1010 for guitar effects and a Roland Space Echo on the vox. And that synth is an actual SID Station (Mos 6581 synthesis - Sound Interface Device chip taken from the 80's Commodore 64 home computer - gotta love it!) So please - the production value is just as I want it - except maybe for the mastering applied... It's a retro thing... I dunno...

Just hope you enjoy!

This is pretty cool.Makes me feel like a kid listening to my older brothers cool music that I shouldnt be into.Great work.I'm glad the vocals were back in the mix it set a very relaxing mood and allowed the music to chant to me.

Only this time your voice is putting me into the trance....Oh...again welcome to the club..

heh thanks guys, it means a lot

anyway it's the same ol s*** different day even though I'm older now, but how much wiser am I really?

I still know there's nothing to know...

anyway also featured on this tune: one handmade tunesian hand drum my mom brought me as a souvenir (I have family living in tunesia - old carthage it figures ) and the whole thing was recorded to a Tascam 448 mk II 8-track tape cassette recorder. I love that thing. All of this equipment is stored in my analog studio corner in the attic... you know... where this was recorded aswell.

thanks... I'm off to "celebrate" for the day... see y'all later...

gefeliciteerd(congrats)
i am dancin overhere( on my chair that is, i'm almost 40)
but anyway i like this song, brilliant guitarwork, good wellknown atmosphere from your attic
love the effects(esp. that 'tremolo' on voice) and rattling synths, and percussion too!
just one litlle thing imo.; louder and fatter base would be nice, to get a more pounding effect?
(or am i just gone deaf after my own last production?)
   could be

if you were only born 20 years earlier in England; you'd be famous!
(but also you'd be 50 now )

Hehe thanks yeh... I try my best.

A fatter bass, yup that could have been nice. You mean the bass guitar or the bass drum? The bassdrum is inside the Boss DR55, there's not much I can do about it. Maybe use a really fat equalizer/multi band compressor, but then the authenticity of the lofi recording method would be compromised a sorry excuse I know, but atleast it's a true analog machine.

Famous in 80's England eh? Thanks

And yes dodo it's true age has so many advantages, it would be a shame to set the clock back 10 years.. or even 2... Or even a few months. Or even an hour I'd miss the things I learn in the meantime!!

A belated many happy returns of the day!
Not that I know what happy returns of the day actually means, but I hope you had many of them in any case!

As for the song, I think the grandeur within it ebbs between Led Zeps most amazing live gig and some dark and throbbing Mithraic cavern, chanting the gatherers on their journey through the stars!
