It’s in the battle 2007-01

Full title is Blackeyed From The Telescope.  Written in about 5 minutes, recorded in 40.  For my daughter.

Lyrics:

I'm nothing without you, I'm a scene
Just another heart in the daydream scheme
When I feel your love
It brings me close to tears
When I feel your heart in mine

I'm floating on the boundaries of your life
Nothing else makes me feel more alive
And I know it's tough
You might even say it's rough
And nothing can keep me from your side

And I'll be there when you cry
Just for you
I'll be there 'til I die

I'm blackeyed from trying to make ends meet
And it'd be fair to say I haven't slept in weeks
But you're there like a star
So bright and yet so far
But you know I'm scratching for the sky

And I'll be there when you cry
Just for you
I'll be chasing angels of dust through this life so cruel
I'll try to keep my heart above water
Cause drownings not an option I'd choose
So come what may and whatever forever
Just for you.....

Like the song, like the lyrics, would love to have heard the vocal brought out more.

The 'just for you' at the end is just enough to make it catchy.

Aaah...
This is a beautiful song...

I like the sound of both guitars!
The vocals is a bit too quiet. Especially on the beginning.

I like the lyrics, too.

So smooth...

I should nearly build another chorus into it, or the chorus around the "just for you".  Then it'd be like a Glen Campbell tune, he does a lot of that yodelling at the end of songs

this is like the Eurovision song contest

"And could we now have the votes from the Norwegian jury......Ireland 7 points.  Irland 7 poin.  Sweden 0 points.  Sweden null poin.  Kazakstan 9 points.  Kazakstan 9 .....wait a second...."

Oh God yeah, please keep the comments coming, I love feedback, normally points out things I wouldn't have thought of and helps it become a better song

The only thing that's wrong with the song is the vocals...
The vocals are great, but a bit too quiet.

It's weird, I can get the levels for the guitars where I want them, but when I do the vocals I have to stand back and sing so that the vocals don't peak and distort which they always seem to do.  Happened in the studio too, whenever I sing higher, the vocals distort so I have to keep moving away from the mic and then back again.  with the mic at home I have to stand about 5 feet away and have the recording level quite low.  Any advice or tips or tricks to work around this?  It's the case with all my recordings, they sound alright but the vocals suck completely, always sit in the wrong place in the mix......

You say the recording level is low but is your input level maxed out? That's usually where I run into problems,I have the recording level decent but the input level too high and as you know major distortion and peaking. Would really be a good idea to get the vox up, then your daughter will be able to hear what a beautiful song her loving father wrote for her.

What I like about this song, is that the vocals are great, really soulful singing, I admire your style, the song really comes together in a warm heartfelt way. It's a cool song!

wow... love the chords progression, specially on the chorus, and the melody is very nice too.  Nicely sung, there are a few issues on the recording you've already pointed out.

good luck!

Good song really mate.
done in five mins eh? it's composition in real time, because it's almost the lenght of the song.
Just the vocals are a tad low and soft, not the singing only the mixing
