Hey hey - I spent today doing this experiment...

I got some new toys and wanted to test a few things, and some recording techniques. I recorded all the parts directly into my cpu which I normally don't do - anyway it's experimental, but I guess I got myself groovin' like good ole times, should be worth something.

So what kind of images come to your mind when you listen to this track? Are the lyrics making any sense?

I hope you can enjoy!

cheers...

Wow........I find myself being surrounded by some strange creatures like Ive done something or stole something sacred from them.......As they dance and chant "give it back to me" I find myself falling and falling when I finally arrive in a different realm and now I'm in a court room and on trial for my life........The courtroom walls are nothing but mirrors and all my sins and wrong doings are looping on them as I try to defend myself......It ends with a pound of a Gavel (I'm the judge however) Then I join the dancing and my journey ends with me being sucked into one of the mirrors and there's no escaping the demons in my past........

Seriously, I typed this as I was listening....good concept for a video? Anyways this is strange and different but I find myself drawn to it.I like it. Also getting a Zappa vibe.....

lyrics
hey, thanks man videos yeah, haven't thought about them lately... but I can picture your ideas vividly

the track started out as a sneer against "the system" but it turned into something entirely different. Only the last line still refers to the original concept.

Anyway: the lyrics:

peace and freedom, and love...
hopes... and dreams... and nights full of stars...
brilliance and splendour, and good conversation...
a million miles alive with colours flashing by... oh my...

(give it back to me, give it back to me)

to fear nothing, to burst out in magnetic energy
open mind and souls like mirrors - chain reaction,
critical mess - burning up but never burning out
brighter than the sun - a spiral spinning on

YOU KNOW IT WELL - YOU KNOW IT REAL WELL!

this is the fire - the power ecstasy
your bloodright - by birth - your very living being
inside the shards of truth and light - the token of Divine
the Answer to Everything the system will decline!

Your recordings are spot on mate.
It draws me down to a retro image while post at the same time which is quite peculiar.
I'd like to hear some guitars in the background it would add more sharpness to me.
Lyrics are good...just the word 'shards', I don't think it exists

thanks!

um, shards do exist... they are broken pieces of a brittle artifacts - usually referring to pottery or ceramic. sometimes glass. in this case I'm referring to metaphysical shards of original intuitive spiritualism, which was destroyed (broken into a myriad pieces) by ages of religious doctrine.

thanks though. and yeah guitar, I didn't want to clog the soundscape, especially not during the verses, or it would drown out the ambulance's siren I accidentally recorded while doing the basic cajon loop. I had recorded metal riffs but they were way too dominant, taking away song's intended feel, so I left them out.

thanks

well, I used a Helicon VoicePrism (hardware), which is a vocal formant/pitch processor. I can sing in the mic and have the pitch controlled by midi input - that's how I did the synthetic chorus part. The lead vox was done using the genderizing function of the same device, and pitching it down a bit. Which is just funny. I can convingly sound like a woman too, if I turn the dial the other way, and pitch it up a few seminotes

but the Antares AVOX Vocal Kit can do similar things, you might wanna check it out!

cheers

like the lyrics and the voice has a good effect to it. just as it should sound. i can see that you are trying to get the audience to think what the meaning behind the song is, just as the makers of the movie 'matrix' did making people jump to conclusions by keeping it to be in the dark........wondering if what i wrote, makes any sense. the feedbacks sure sound good.

nice experiment

The cajon makes a good job in here.
Brilliant sound, excellent lyrics and a fantastic idea

I feel fighting inside against the rest of the world with thousands of friendships outside.

Because the cajon is out of time a bit only 98%

Rounded up 100.

ohh the good ol' idealistic PX is in da house!!  It's funny that even when you try to take people to the darkest places of your own conscience the message is always full of hope, anger and hope ("give it back to me").

i really like the synthetic voice.. and the lead too, but I'd loved to hear some Depeche Mode kind of singing there, only darker... well, just an opinion.

Dude, awesome. This reminds me of a hybrid of Depeche Mode, Devo and dark rock.

well - this is a great one Puppet!  Images that come to mind...hmm....looking over the top of an old metal fence, looking at a great big junkyard full of cars, and a fire starts in one pile..then another fire starts, then another...until the whole place is aflame...then, as I look closer, I can see that there are people in the cars, screaming - trying to get out.  oooooh - that's dark and morbid isn't it?

Great mix, like the deep vocals.  Good luck in the battle!

I like the dark vocals on this. I almost felt like I was being scolded from deep down below. Music and feeling---good combinations of stuff here. Awsome mix as well!

thanks everybody

I'm glad you guys like it. Gives me hope for (my) idealism!

Which brings me to... aetheris: I think this was born more from the brighter rather than the darker side of me!
