Well the duet is lovely! In fact the whole song, loving the falsetto and violin! And especially the part where the guitar "flirts" with the violin. Delightful.

Can I ask which multitracker you used, or did one of you mix down your version and send it to the other to add to? Also, are the drums live or are they synthed? If synthed, which program have you used? They sound really realistic!

Really professional, and it sounds fantastic. The violins really add atmosphere, I would have never thought of that for the style. It sounds really well played, recorded and finished.

Bravo.

bedroomsessions:
Spoon mixed her version (vox, drums, guitars) and then sent it to me. As far as software goes, I use Ableton Live 5.

As for the drums, I believe it was the bossa nova track off of spoon's keyboard. Then I added bass/snare samples on my end.

Thanks for comments all

Wow, that was awesome! My favorite song on here so far. the collaboration is perfect, your vocals are matched extremely well. I love the way everything comes in at 1:05, and that subtle lead part in the background is extremely catchy.

Great job, I'm definately downloading this!

EDIT: oh, and just out of curiousity, what did you use for recording. What mics for vocals, did you mic the accoustic or use pickups, etc.

Thanks pirate Willy!! (arrrrrr...)

To answer your question about my end of things...I used a studio mic for recording vocals with a popscreen (sorry, I'm not sure of the brand, I'll check on Monday when I'm recording again), and I did mic my takamine acoustic (instead of using the pickup) for my guitar parts (which are the two that start off the song and carry on through) with a shure SM58.

Tak will have to tell you what he used on his end....

Alrighty then.

For violins and that one guitar, I used a shure SM-57. For vox, I used an MXL 1250 with a popscreen (vintage, tights type... special thanks to Siren*). Everything was lined into my Toneport for gating/EQ/compression, and then into the computer.

*for the suggestion, not the pantyhose...

Analog drums!!
I have had many questions about the analog drums...and to finally answer....

The keyboard they were from was a  MELLO-TRONIC 350...circa 1973...we actually had to dust it off because it had been out in the shed!

hey Piper...thanks for your comment, and I'm glad you like the song - though I'm not sure what you mean about being a drummer therefore not enjoying the mix...do you mean you don't like the analog drums?  perhaps if you were more specific it would help us to improve...

Amazing!
A lil over EQ'ed, But Phenomenal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I LOVE IT! The pizzicato has left me in awe, vocals could use a lil more compression

It is a great tune
