very cool
Hey Jim
this definitely evokes Tull for me too (a good thing). The whole thing sounds great except of course for the BG vox. It seems that you have the same problem many others do of doubling existing trax. It's a bitch to get the headphone mix just right since in your head, you hear what you sing  and you think about what you sing and you hear it in the phones.
Way back when I used to work in an analogue studio, the owner was a neurotic (loooong, gruesome story) who adhered to the policy of "least amount of tape travel through the heads". It was ridiculous. Talk about pressure! But, because of that,  we found a way to help singers layer their vox fairly quickly. We had them try recording them independantly. That is, one track at a time with no other vocal reference track in the cans. For this to work, you must have the parts down pat. Really! About 8 out of 10 times. the trax we got were usable and every singer, though hesitant at first,  felt it was easier.
In simple BG voc parts I still revert to this occasionally, just to speed things along.
Anyway, nice tune !
Oh, and you also remind me of Dave Mason. Very nice baritone.

Thanks all for your comments.
Wow Alerion, the advice on the backing vocals is great - it's certainly one to try on the next creation!  The only trouble is

Damn, does that mean I've got to learn the harmonies instead of making them up as I go along

blown away by this one
great job on this song. The mix is darn near perfect. I love the guitar sounds and guitar playing, good job on the drums and I gotta say you did on hell of a job on the vocals.
yeah so they don't sound in exact time they still sound good to me.

Great piece.

Somebody mentioned Jethro Tull, I agree, and maybe a little Jerry Doucette mixed in the guitar-ing, along with Matthew Sweet.

A really great piece

The guitar playing (mostly the beginning strumming) could be tighter, but other than that I like what I hear!

Somehow I missed Jiminuk's uploads...Lots of good music which sounds very '70s, very British, very rock.  If not necessarily my genre it is definitely my mindset and, in any case, a quality stuff.
