This song is not in a battle

A poem a friend of mine wrote and asked me to set to music.  Sombre.  Possibly wants a bassline kicking in at around 2:00.

very very good...
Got  a touch of the Nick Cave's or Leonard Cohen's about it. No bad thing... I really like it.
Guitar's lovely

I think this is cool - its always nice to hear something different.

I love the simple but effective two guitars, and then the lead classical guitar.

The subtle harmonics are also quite nice.

My only gripe would be that at the beginning its more poem less music...would also be nice to hear a little more musicality in the main vocals...they are a little monotone and would be more interesting to have some varety.

In all, its a nice idea and I look forward to hearing more

Groovy
Nothin wrong with sombre mate! I enjoyed the introspective quality of the tune. The pickin pattern and chords i think make it sombre, you could ignore the subject matter and write happy chords and see what ya get. Try the crazy ideas! Ahahahaha. give it a shot. Might be surprised.
As it stands, its a good song and id listen to it again.Good work

I loved this, it's got a raw Cohen honesty and that dark fireside tale feel of Nick Cave, touch of Red House Painters too.  More like this mate

Impressive. Have to agree with previous posts about the typical Cohen feel. I like this kind of sound, I took the liberty of downloading it to my itunes library. Keep it up!

Nice tune. Very Cohen. Really liked the harmonies I'd like to hear them more though. Good work.

Rock monkey?
Love the guitars, good singing style, goes with the tune. I think a harmonica would do great in one of the lead parts. nothing harsh, something easy along with the tune.

I like the guitar and the feel to the song. Your vocal style here really suits it. As for adding drums I'm not sure if you NEED them, but maybe some really soft stuff with brushes could work if they came in about half way through or something like that. Good stuff
