interesting thread..
For me it would be:

1. Somewhere in Time(1980) Christopher Reeve,Jane Seymour
2. The Princess Bride(1987) Cary Elwes,Robin Wright-Penn
3. Better Off Dead(1985) John Cusack, Diane Franklin
4. The Water Boy(1998) Adam Sandler,Kathy Bates, Fairuza Balk, Henry Winkler

Ok.. That is probably my most favorite movies... yeah...  I know there is more.. but so what... This list rocks.. and you all know it...  Although Somewhere in time was a more obscure role for Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour that didn't get the attention and credit it deserves.. Phenomenal movie, Phenomenal sound track...

The princess bride?? CRAP??  Are you sure you are thinking of the right movie... there were a couple movies that people confuse with that for some reason...  But the Princess bride is not just a great movie, it was a book first, and is literary genius...  This is the one I'm talking about:

Anything,    Orsen Wells

Young Frankenstein

Saving Private Ryan

"Dig" for some reason I like this indie movie (I know it sucks)      Dig  .. it's about  The Jonestown Massacre Band and The Dandy warhols.

Oh Brother Where Art Thou    The George Clooney moves on the stage scene cracks me up.

Napoleon Dynamite .... if you get this movie it is great, if not you probably won't like it.

I love Abbot and Costello movies.

Not sure I would consider any of these the greatest movies ever, but they are some of the ones I like.

agreed.
How could I forget The Princess Bride??!?!?!?!?!?!

That is pretty much the most amazing movie ever.

My list doesn't really count. If you ask me what my favorite movie is, I will answer differently every time. I am terrible at picking favorites.

but the princess bride is pretty much top 2

The princess bride is actually a pretty good movie! I don't think it's the best ever though.... Mark Knopfler did the soundtrack to it, which is a very good one.

Lord of the Rings anyone? I just love that one... As a fan of the books, I think the movie could hardly have been done better.

Also great movies:
Bladerunner
Excalibur
Serenity

And ofcourse, for light entertainment: Groundhog Day and Ghostbusters !
