Blueyes, I see, I didn't understand you before, but I'm afraid I'm still not really getting what you're trying to say? The way the system works now is - you put a song in the battle, and it stays there till the end of the month for that is how long the battle will run. If the song receives a ranking (as of now, 15+ votes), it cannot be re-entered in the (or: a) next battle, but if it didn't get enough votes, then it CAN be re-entered in a next one for as long as it never gets enough votes. But this re-entering needs to be performed manually, it does not automattically go into the next battle when the current month's is over. And once the song hits 15 votes it will receive a ranking and then that's be it! Personally, I don't see how this will cause any type of (dis)advantage to anyone who has songs in battles, regardless of the number of attempts to receive a ranking (or indeed, how long the song has been on the bandamp server).

Yes good news, even the vote tab and random mp3 link is a great step forward.
Dozens of threads, I think they might be paying off. Some great ideas, PX, you've made a few that I really like, like the song list on members page, it was here before? I'd like to see it back.

Listening should be available as soon as it's entered into a battle, but voting only open the last week of the month.

Ok well as myself, I have stayed silent on this topic for a while. But perhaps it is time for me to speak. Not to sound arrogant or something. This is all of course in my very extraordinarily humble opinion. These are my thoughts.
OK first off, I think the entire system needs to be rethought, mainly: battles every month? Are you serious? That was wrong from the start. I think we should seriously consider making it three, maybe four a year. People will be much more interested if this is made into the "big event" of Bandamp, not some mediocre thing that happens every month. The less battles, the less winners, and the less winners there are, the more prestigious those winners are. And of course the more prestigious they are, the more interest and votes in general.
Pup, that list was here when I first came to the site as well. ( Not this account, actually. I had at least 2 others that I made before I was really into the site, and I kept forgetting the passwords.) That was a wonderful tool, not because it drew your attention to the battle, or enticed you to vote, or simply because you wanted the list to go away. It worked because it let you know what to vote on.
The system being implemented now is particularly ineffective because, I believe, no one really knows who is in the battle or what the current status of a song or battle in general is, and more often don't really care; we all know it's broken anyway, right?
So we need to raise awareness; I believe kings suggested a whole new forum devoted to battle entries. I wholeheartedly agree with this. The battle participants need, above all, to be HIGHLY VISIBLE!

I think the pink distinction is good enough, and not only that but if you really want to know about the battle, click on browse at the top of the site, it will take you to the current battle. Or if you want to vote and listen, just click on vote. A list of current battle songs is not good, it would clutter up the area. I think a link in big red words or pink ones would be better.

Well, I for one am ducking out of any further competitions after seeing the unfairness of this months results. Although Im seeing alot of activity on the this thread im not seeing many results. Ive heard more than one person say they could rewrite the whole thing and from what I hear from Admin it sounds like "DEAL WITH IT" for the most part. So whatever.
