It looks like soundcloud had some pretty bad financial losses recently. There is conjecture of course that the site might be facing the real decision to shut down.
Personally I think that would be a pretty sad day, given how nice the core platform is. I dare say I have found more independent music through soundcloud than more popular places like YouTube (where "related" content is a real shitshow).

Also note that apparently it is impossible to post anything with a single quotation mark in it. I had to edit the above comment to remove contractions so that the text would post. That is pretty amazing.
