Just caught Tommy Emmanuel in concert last night
I know some of you are fans, but I wasn't familiar with his work. I went to the concert almost as an afterthought...bought the ticket at the last minute. What happened after that simply blew my mind. This is the guy to see if you're a guitar geek. He played about two hours of music (interspersed with some truly charming stage patter, even a guitar lesson or two). I'm convinced this guy is the hardest working man in show business (sorry James Brown). Imagine two hours of this:

and this:

The greatest talent on a steel-string acoustic guitar ever, in my opinion. His finger and flat picking skills are other-worldly.

There are videos of him jamming on a tele on YouTube, and he displays incredible prowess there as well. Here's[1] a great example. Sooooo much feeling.

Yep, he truly "does it all". After I saw him I became obsessed with his work and began researching him on Youtube and saw this video. I was amazed at his electric prowess - in this video, he does blues, rock, country (great hybrid-Brent Mason-but before Brent Mason-style). Absolutley amazing player!
