OK! Success. It works, you can by the magic of PHP write a link even with this crumby vbCode that lets your visitors download a file straight from a bandAmp page.  It will open a 'Open with... / Save to disk' window, just like an MP3 download.

So that's one more window open!  

Clicking this link opens a pop-up window.
It will only call files on bandamp because putting http:// or www  makes it a link and the rest is ignored.

OK! So adding " &rel=1 " (not the speech marks) to the end of a youTube video(page) address opens it in its own window. No youTube page around it!

You will have to 'allow pop-ups from bandAmp' if your browser has a pop-up stopper (and so it should!),
I'm going on the idea that only bandamp members can use this on bandamp, and that because I wrote it, you know who's posting the link and who's sending it!

The video is one of those 'secret places on Google Earth' productions, over done orchestral background and all
But thats not the point:
The point is, that if you read further you'll see that it is here for you to use to show your videos in a (resizable) small window while still staying on bandAmp, visitors to your page can watch and comment at the same time.

I've had to put a 'opener.histry.back()' in the 'new pop-up', otherwise it also takes the bandamp page forwards, thats why the bandamp page goes white and then returns.

OK! This is a very simple bit of PHP code that opens your video of choice in the 'pop-up' window.
It only works for videos hosted on youTube at the moment,
It needs a little understanding to put it in your comment box! Not a lot! Just a little.

If you want to have an image / thumbnail as a link to your video put this code in your text/comment box :
(the ; at the end is added by bandAmp ???? do not copy)

You have to edit it of course.    :

Replace " PUT AN IMAGE ADDRESS IN HERE, EG : http://img.youtube.com/vi/xVFJrOlwdkw/2.jpg "
with an address of an image you like.
I made a Google for the video, right clicked on the thumbnail and 'Copy Image Location', which can be done in FireFox.

NEXT and most importantly of all you have to pass me the video id code number.

Dead simple ! Every video on youTube has an id number, when you click on a video link and look at the address bar in your browser you'll see something similar to : http://youtube.com/watch?v=9ldCqeHmxDs&feature=dir  (this is worth watching BTW! ) (Dont! Follow the lesson........).

The important bit is between the = and the &, the 9ldCqeHmxDs, that is the id.
Now, in my code that you must put in your comment box you'll see a link to a file called popVideo php that's on my web site followed by a ? then video then an =.  The next part is where the id comes.
You must copy/paste/write your video id in the bit that I've stared ( **********) out, so that it looks something like this :
..........popVideo.php?video=EMzoBkaFxh4][img...............

Yes?

Then write your comment about the video and post.

If you don't want the Image as a link just replace the [img] tags and all in between with your own link text.
