I think I do my bit for the French but often I feel that there's less interest in the French songs than in the English one
I heard some fantastic song in polish by JPB but all in all I agree this site is very English not that's a bad thing

Thats a good question there swordy. I guess more english people just post the songs on here. I'm sure not many people know about this site worldwide.

Itīs  like ī who -shot-John `. Hard to explain . So many reasons .
I guess itīs the same thing  as on other sites . English is still the main language worldwide .
Most people in the civilised world speak english to communicate with foreign people /countries.
I loaded up my album on "Jamendo.com "  a few month ago and there are many countries represented . Most of them are europeans but also americans , russians , southamericans , canadians .................................
Thereīs a german forum , english forum , french etc.....
But english is the īuniversal`language to talk to everyone in the world .
Perhaps in 50 yrs it might be that we all are talking chinese and sewing their T-Shirts
The french peops are special : they regulated per law the proportion of foreign spoken lyrics on their radiostations . Iīm not sure , but I guess the stations MUST play 80% french songs ( to save french language).
Rigid thing , he?
Another reason could be that this site is made "by musicians for musicians" more focused in communication between members than in presenting ones music to a larger , external consumer audience .

I'd say it's simply the internet growing and people can surf the net in their own language these days and joint bandAmp type sites in their own language.
English speakers may think it's an English world ... but it is not.
There's a few members I can think of who upload music here but their comments are often very short....it's not because they have nothing to say it's because they would have to write in English on bandAmp otherwise no one understands.
It also seems like everyone has less time for everything theses days so if someone is surfing the net they dont have time to puzzle through threads and translate replies, it makes the experience of being on the internet a laborious task and not something fun and living......

It would be interesting to know how members here got know about bandAMP?
For me I was referred by PX
I suppose it would need to do with search engines - does google work the same around the world, probably not I would say. I'm going to google things related to sites like ours, see what turns up.
I believe there are ways to imput search engines, one is to pay for it.

Edit* Well I googled various things - nothing came up

Well yeah its a bit difficult to draw in people here.. You know my band mates all regularly visit the site but they somehow refuse to make accounts and upload their own solo stuffs.. silly them ("do you know how many accounts on forums I already have??" and stuff)

we've been discussing banner exchange in the past... Or just drop ads in various forums all round etc but for me google brought me to BandAMP...
guess it'll always be a small site, but hey it never seems to dry out completely and thats a good thing

how members got know about bandAMP?
The first years Iīve worked on my music , I improved my gear , songs and recording abilities ( as far as possible).
Then I tought about how to publish . Buying a computer and trying to publish in the net seemed to be logical..
One day Iīve read in a magazine a test about different ways to make  music public. . There were lots of netlabels , netradios , downloadportals , musicians communities , myspace & utube and all that stuff .
After a while I extracted two sites which were interresting to me . bandamp.com & jamendo.com
Two communities I could exchange experiences & opinions and learn more about music , production , technique and the virtual world  .
So I decided to join "bandamp" last summer īcause itīs a small , friendly and "open minded" community .
Also it was like challenge to polish up my old , rusty and rudimentary  school-english  .(sill a long , long way)
Thatīs  how I came to BANDAMP
