His guitars are set-up proper, hence tapping with a clean sound is unusual

yeah...I have been a fan of Stanley Jordan for years. Here's one of my favorites of his (Ahhh...brings back such romantic memories from the eighties....)

Stanley used to  playTravis Bean Guitars.. They have an aluminum neck.  I have one sitting back in my closet.  These guitars sustain and play great.  Just a bit neck heavy though.  Notes will ring out for a long time. The neck radius is really flat. maybe a 12 degree or so.
