dude thats a great idea. or maybe when you sign in it would ask you if you want to be automatically signed into the chat, and when it gives you this option it shows you who is online/who is in the chat. thatd be much easier to get to talking to some of you guys

Good idea fish, but sometimes people like to just log in and listen to music.
Or maybe they're just not in the mood for a chat. There could be a million reasons.

I would log in... but I find if I stop to chat then I end up spending one hell of a lot longer sitting at the pc than I intended.  So mostly, I just cruise the pages, listen to music, and make the occasional comment

The chat is up and running, use it or not, let the people decide to join or not.

I think a must-chat-window is pretty annoying

Yeah, a mandatory entry into the chat window could be considered a nuisance...many people who log into Bandamp simply don't have the time to chat. It's better to allow people to make the choice to enter the chat room....the tab is clearly displayed up top, as are the names of the chat participants whenever anyone views the forum page. Thus, people who choose not to enter the chat room probably have reasons not to do so at that time. Let's not force them....

Sword, just because things do not work in your favour doesn't them a bad idea.
