TK Thanks
I've noticed things are starting to work on the AMP again that have been down for probably 18 months or so.
TK has been very busy.
WELL DONE THAT MAN.

Keep up the good work!!!

It's just that result of it

I've just noticed the battle messages next to the mp3 player................cool!
So are you re-designing and re-defining the Battles or are you managing to get the original system working?

Dont be out of work for too long though...I though that the German economy was one of the strongest in Europe.

First I have to understand HOW it works. There are few scripts to finish and close a battle. And in database there are several fields for votes but I am not sure which one is really used.
So all I know so far is that you need at least 15 votes and the average score of min 70 percent to reach the calculation and the chance to win a battle.
Right now I don't know whether 'old' votes are considered in the calc.
i.e.:
I have a song uploaded in 2006, never been in an battle, but earned 20 votings and an average ranking of 89%
THIS would be the start into the battle.
If a new user puts his new song (just published) into the battle it starts with zero.

This behaviour shows an unequal advantage for the "old" song. But as I said, my studies aren't finished.

To reactivate the original rating system is better than nothing and creates food for future plans

TK : I've gathered that it's a bit of a battle understanding how the battle works, but as you say it is better to get whats there working , and then take a different look at it once it's functioning.

As for the ethics of the battle; it sounds only fair that an 'old' song gets a better chance, and if a newby comes along with an excellent song and gets loads of votes it shoots up the 'charts',  this is the nature of a best of battle chart.

There never seems to be hardly 15 votes in any one battle, which would qualify, IMO if you found a way of removing that ruling, we would be able to announce a winner every month, which in turn would motivate others to enter into the battle.
Hope you can get your brains around it

Sounds good, let's give it a trial run, hopefully it will encourage the members to enter battles.
Perhaps when you have found the way to change it, you can announce it on the front page.
Then announce the winner and runners up the same, monthly.
