Man, When i took guitar lessons back in the day, tuning the guitar was the hardest part for me! I broke more than a couple strings! I may have to pick it up again now! LOL! Nah! Ill stick with my FL!!!

me too..but someone said they think the starting price is in the upward range of 7000 or something...
holy wow... that was amazing!
this would take a lot of saving up

the price will be more like $2800... There is no way they would charge that much if they want to sell it. A historic is running around $4000 or less, so it would be crazy to price this that high, limited run or not..

The company that makes this possible is http://www.tronical.com/ They have some neat stuff... There is a strat version : http://www.music-king.com/
SO, you can make ANY guitar a robot guitar, with the kit... awesome... I might get the strat kit, that would be kind of cool... Still not sure if they novelty is worth the hassle...
Anyway.....

No, it will be more than $2,800, unless Gibson lost their business sense. Hell, a standard Les Paul runs over $2000. A Les Paul Supreme runs around $3000, and this is, without the fancy tech stuff, a high-end Les Paul with improvements. Add to that the cost of the "kit", the installation, the custom finish (both the color and the actual process, which are both completely awesome) and the novelty tax, and you've got a very expensive guitar on your hands.
I just looked through the sites you posted Jim, and the kit for Strats retails at just over $1300 USD. $7000 seems a very reasonable cost to me.
Edit: Reasonable is a strong word. Of course I wish it cost fifty bucks, but I see Gibson charging $7000 for this. Hopefully this will usher a new era of replicas, and we'll get Japanese manufacturers making flawless copies like what was going on in the 70's and the 80's (remember Tokai?).

If you want it to drop in price rapidly, all you need is have to make me buy one. If I cash out $7000 for such an axe it'll be $3500 by the end of the year and around $1000 a half year later. Wait another year and they're practically giving it away when you buy a new set of strings.... Hmm... Seing the novelty (or technological breakthrough) items I have bought in the past, this is a very likely scenario....
I hate to disappoint you though, I am not going to buy one, so it's bound to keep it's value now...

Oh yeah, and I thought I was smart to not buy the Roland V-Synth when it was $2000... Thought the system would apply anyway, so I waited, and waited... and now, MANY YEARS LATER, the V-Synth is doing over $3000................ I'm quite sure if I finally decide to get me one,..... well you know.
