Rewrite beta site
http://bandamprewrite.site50.net/

(The project name when I started was "MusicBox".  Sometimes it's written on the site.  Don't worry, I'm not trying to change BandAMP's name.)

It's temp space on a free webhost that offers MySQL and good PHP functionality.

Please, by all means, go there and tell me what you think.  Post your thoughts either here or on the TORT thread

If you could please report any issues that you see in your browser, that'd be vonderful.  Please let me know what your OS is (Windows, Linux, Mac OS X) and which browser you're using (FireFox, IE, Opera, Safari, etc) and which version of that browser (FireFox 2.x, Opera 8.x, IE 6, IE 8 beta, etc).

Some links are broken.  I know this.  They won't be one day.

I've checked browser compatibility for most major browsers on the Windows platform:  FireFox 3, Opera 9.5, IE 8 beta (IE 8 beta ate my old IE 7 install, grumble, grumble).

Testing on a Linux platform has been very limited.  I can do it, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Once upon a time, I saw the media uploader on a Mac OS X 3.9 FireFox 2.x install, and parts were broken.  Beyond that, my Mac testing has been non-existent, but I intend to do more in the future.

If you see any PHP warnings/errors, let me know.  My configuration at home doesn't give me any problems, but the remote beta server might have a different configuration (come to think of it, I don't know if it's running PHP4 or PHP5!)

XO,
TLS

yeah
I was able to see it a little bit ago...  It looked ok, of course it's so limited, but so far so good...  Really would like to be able to see music players in action, etc.. but then I am just a greedy sob.. hehehe  I want everything NOW NOW NOW...

     hahahahaha

yes, i understand what you mean   The part that has been taking so long was the forums and the basic database setup.  I've been intentionally writing this so that somebody else can walk in and add things easily.  Now that that's getting to be more set up, production goes faster.

Unfortunately, easy feature edits are not a feature of the current BandAMP...    I want the site to sort of carry itself, and for features to not be a hindrance to the community!

Anyway, I'm writing the stuff for the thread-view now.  As you can tell from it's current state, it's far from complete, but the framework is there.  I'll try to keep things moving along, and also keep them updated on that remote site.

The host site sent me an email again this morning to let me know that my beta site is working again.

I get to the home page via the link, clicking me/profile or inbox gives me a blank page (http://error.000webhost.com/not_found.html) with only a link to "enter web site" on it
On clicking the link I get a pop up http://www.nl.zylom.com/?utm_medium=banner&utm_source=adsmarket
and the page becomes http://www.000webhost.com/

ok most of the links are like this.

Clicked on the "User" in the blue bar , it gave me : Table 'a3427200_site.userListings' doesn't exist

So songs will be 'transferable' between Current, Completed and Abandoned Projects?
And where do 'just songs' go? songs that are not projects.
Still looking around and still liking it.

songs that you upload for showing can go under "current" or "complete"-- whatever you want to award your work.  And you can move them around freely.  You're not bound to keeping it one way or another.

thanks for the php error.  MySQL on my home machine doesn't care about case sensitivity.  The one on the host site does.

that "user" link you talked about is fixed now. ( http://bandamprewrite.site50.net/users/ )
