I'm not necessarily a 'real guitar recording freak' though I do have reasonable 'craftsman skills' , but that was an excellent link to an excellent article. Thank you.
I bought a second hand Washburn MG44 some time back, it has defective knobs and a beautiful ash (I think) body, making it ripe for this kind of custom job.
I liked his tools especially the little router. Some good tips too ; "Step drills are good for thin metal because there is no tendency to catch in the metal and no spiral flutes to pull or distort the work." That's a good tip !
I really liked how he inlaid the logos in the neck too, very impressive.

It's links like this (and all the other categories) that should be in a 'Links' Forum, under it's relevant thread, because it's such a shame that it will just 'disappear into the Pit'

cheaper, same result, use any guitar, no math required

but having it integrated prolly has a cooler feel to it, ... for those who are looking for that. or it's mainly for the hobbyist side of things ofcourse. just like we go through great troubles to record our own material whilst we might aswell go to a record shop and buy a pre-recorded CD. well, thats not really the same ofcourse...

Yeah but look at it....under a 100 pounds??

We all know quite well, in the music world you get what you pay for.
If I wanted a USB guitar, I would do the custom conversion; then you know that the guitar you're doing all this work for is a quality instrument. And that is REALLY what matters.
