Hey I want to start recording my own stuff using the computer. What kind of software/hardware should i get and where?

Software is easy, you can get a program such as;
-Audacity (recomended)
- Kristal
for free, and there is always Garage Band if you've got a Mac.

Hardware is harder. Best suggestion I have is, read Entheon's mixer thread. That thing is a lifesaver.

Audicity is a great tool and it safe.

It's free, it has a lot of futures and it's easy to use.
You don't really need anything else for basic recording.

It's also an open source program, so it's perfectly safe.
