Metalworks Studios |
I just found out I might be able to get a chance to record my drums here:
http://www.metalworksstudios.com/
This is where rush masters some of their audio, and maybe records it too, I dunno.
What do you guys think?

I like the panelling...lighting is very effective too.
Dont know about the chairs though!...ooo! Scary brown canvas ! :o
I was apprehensive about the chairs at first but once you sit down...
Well if you think that's amazing, check out this studio:
It's owned by a movie score composer called Hans Zimmer.

It's like a dream

It looks more like a video game.
There has to be a sealed sound room somewhere in there.
lol this would make a very cool desktop background
I zoomed into every corner of this picture. Skulls everywhere!!!! And I realized the boney guitar behind the grand piano. But what is build onto the walls? FX gear? Moog synthesizer modules? Or is it just a hyper dimensioned mixer where you have to jump from knob to knob to fader all the time? Does it have a remote control perhaps?
And have a look at the table in the front. Someone tried to draw some very sad faces. And Fiji water strung like mustered soldiers, a nice hidden advertising effect.
The music that is produced in this studio must be very dark probably, maybe gothic or death metal style or so... I wonder who's living there

Hans Zimmer is a german keyboarder composer , arranger living in Hollywood .Since the 80´s he´s working for Hollywood´s film industry and wrote soundtracks like for example "backdraft", "Black rain" or
"Lion´s king" and many , many more. "Golden globe" and " Oscar" winner. A famous and rich, rich man he is .
This may explain his studio design perhaps .Just Hollywood. They´re all kidding a bit there.

metalworks pales in comparison to that thing
I dragged it to my desktop, enlarged it and set it as the desktop background for my XP installation.
On two screens it's quite impressive
Have you notice the Michel Jackson type mask that shines out from the décor panelling above all that equipment?
The way the table shines is quite amazing.

its a ridiculously awesome studio I must say! The styling isn't quite mine, but I couldn't care less with all that gear
I could die here...

nope.. check out the metal works .. 6 top end studios. state of the art stuff. very high end SSL boards, a very sought after Neve console. top end monitors. Probably some of the best engineered sound rooms and recording rooms around that area. The mastering equipment alone in the dvd production room is super big $$$$ One of the SSL boards probably cost about half of one of hons wall.
Hon has some top end gear , nice wall mount consoles , very expensive, super impressive audio/video controllers and surround mixers. very nice preamps ect. but , one of those SSL boards is around $500,000.00 in metal works , just the board alone, not withstanding the top end protools3, and the many high end preamps, monitors, effects units.. If I was going to record a band, metal works would be a good choice.
