Recording Piano
I'm looking for information on recording an upright piano.

microphone types, placement, etc...

best EQ setting...

Any tips you have would be greatly appreciated!

thanks

Don't know a whole lot about the subject, but i would definately reccomend a pair of SDCs (small diaphragm condensors) with one at either end of the piano. There are plenty to choose from, just do a good bit of research to see which one you think will fit your purposes best.

if  you dont have lots of money to spend -- it may be worth your while to experiment with placing foam [or couch cushions] all over nearby

I would suggest a pair of MXL 991s i searched for a link but found none but i own one that i bought for recording vocal but i will use it to record drums now in a set of three..... but i digress anyway i noticed the other day in the manual it says to use these types of mics underneath the keys towards the pedals if it is a real small piano like that and if it is a big older style piano that it says to place them inside the "belly" if you will but i have not had one single problem with my mics and i use them ALLOT i expirament with just about everything!!
Sorry, you do not have access to post...
