Ooohhh really spooky, I changed my Avatar a few days ago, the following day the previous one came back, I then tried again, the same happened, then I deleted the picture from my album and guess what? - IT CAME BACK

The Avatar function works properly for me.
Maybe you must refresh your browser's cache
I changed my Avatar and now all my posts show the new pic

The crazy thing is I've deleted this blue lady smoking in my album, BUT it is reappearing..
I noticed your normal Avatar is back up, I assume you changed it back?

Ah.... I think it's working now, I'm using Firefox, I right clicked and opened a new tab then hit refresh, hence before it was taking me to the home page, and also noticed your new Avatar when I got it to work..
