hum... may sound stupid but

can anyone tell me how to quot just a fragment of a previous post?

i do it manually i.e. after clicking the quote tab highlight what i don't what and hit the delete key. but if there is any other way to do it i would like to know. also i have noticed that when i quote the post count does not increase is it meant to be like that???????

Yes, that, and - for some others who may have trouble working with the comment input forms:

A good way to find out how certain posts were construction is by pressing it's "Quote" button (in the grey bar on top of the post). That way, all coding applied in that post shows up as text, and you can learn from that.

Also by simply writing
[quote=membername] Blahblahblah [/quote]

will show up as:

This was manually created, as should be obvious
