Everything |
This is one of my favorite songs I have written. They say that when you are born, you are still in something called the "alpha" stage in which your consciousness doesn't feel separate from everything else. You feel that you exist but you don't feel where you end and everything around you begins. I strangely enough have a few memories from that time in my life. It was with that thought that I wrote the following song.
Everything
Tell me once again, the things I used to know.
Whisper in my ear, my thoughts from long ago.
When did I decide to,
turn my face from the world?
What did they do to make me,
never want to love again?
Was I right?
Was I wrong?
I survived after all.
First I cried, then I screamed.
Did you hear anything?
Once I was everything,
and everything was me.
That much still, I know.
Turning back I see,
someone very shy and pure.
Often truth is perceived,
as something to be fearful of.
And I spoke, through the lies.
Broke the trance, they'd devised.
First they laughed, then they screamed.
Did you hear anything?
Once I was everything.
And everything was me.
That much, still I know.
Now I stand before the world,
I come back to make amends.
For I know my truth depends,
on my trusting once again.
So I reach, with my hands,
take a step, from my stance.
First I smile,
then I sing.
Do you hear everything?
Once I was everything,
and everything was me.
That much, still I know.

Wow! Drop dead Fred!
That's pretty amazing!
Like the last verse best it flows and makes a lot of sense.
You don't mention whether this has ever been recorded?
I guess not, otherwise you'd post the song!
If you do record it please give us one of those amazing Lisa power chords when you do ; First I smile, then I sing. Do you hear everything?

It is recorded It is one of our Costellos Songs that we recently rerecorded. I will have Marino help me post it again. It is actually very soft and deep in feel. There are some moments of more powerful voicing, but mainly just depth of feeling in simplicity. Thanks for the feeedback !!!

Thanks xXxsaharaxXx.! I generally try to write lyrics that could be interpreted a multitude of ways. It is pretty funny how one person can think a song means the exact opposite of what another person thinks. But as long as everyone is getting what they need it to be for themselves, it is all good to me!
I think that you are totally right, under every word there is a different meaning but each meaning is different for each indivdual. And each song you write just furthers that idea into the world.
Peace!
Peace!

Beautiful. In my head it sounds like a minor chord progression with a major lift to the chorus. Awesome.
Let us know when this is recorded.
Here it is Avi hope you like it.
