Grey Matter
This is the latest one from me. Acoustically written, short riffs,  melodic vocals. I took a while thinking this one over. At first I tried to fit it to a chord progression I wrote earlier, but compromised to suit better. Hope you like it.

Grey Matter

Open up your mind,
Open up your insight,
Slide away the blinds,
Or go and pick your own fight,
You leave me in two minds,
What if they're both wrong?
Where has you grey matter gone...
Open up your mind,
Open up your insight,
Slide away the blinds,
Or go and pick your own fight,
You leave me in two minds,
What if they're both wrong?
Where has you grey matter gone...

Like a meteor falling to the ground,
You're a natural disaster waiting to be found,
And you're ticking through the times I'm not around,
I hope you are ok, I hope you're safe and sound,

Open up your mind,
Open up your insight,
Slide away the blinds,
Or go and pick your own fight,
You leave me in two minds,
What if they're both wrong?
Where has you grey matter gone...
Open up your mind,
Open up your insight,
Slide away the blinds,
Or go and pick your own fight,
You leave me in two minds,
What if they're both wrong?
Where has you grey matter gone...

Like a twister to a cardboard home,
You rip me down so you stand alone,
You're a nightmare, a monster's hell,
But it's not your fault you aren't feeling well,

Open up your mind,
Open up your insight,
Slide away the blinds,
Or go and pick your own fight,
You leave me in two minds,
What if they're both wrong?
Where has you grey matter gone...
Open up your mind,
Open up your insight,
Slide away the blinds,
Or go and pick your own fight,
You leave me in two minds,
What if they're both wrong?
Where has you grey matter gone...

Like the voices in a sick sad song,
You have no choices but to carry on,
You have the feeling you may be wrong,
You're not alone, you're not the only one,

You shall carry on,
They can't stop the song,
You shall carry on,

You shall carry on,
They can't stop the song,
You shall carry on,

So, there you have it. Any suggestions? There's just that one last part at the end, 'They can't stop the song', I don't like making reference to the song, but I couldn't think further than that.

Cheers!

I like it! No suggestion other than I like FLYER'S idea....yours is good too.
I would love to know your inspiration for the song. I alos like the natural disaster line.
Keep it the way you feel it needs and should be~*~*~

If I sing this to my self I come to a quick, marching, funky, jumpy; dada da da daaa, dada da da daaa!
And I would add :
Where has you Grey matter gone...?
Who sings the hatters song? (or something like that)
etc

it splits the chorus up in my mind.
And because the rest is also 'this' or 'that', one thing compared to another, so the Grey matter is coupled with the hatters song!

Grey matter is a subject that I've also wanted to put to song, it's as if it's discovery in reality has opened up the world of the dreamer, like the discovering of a planet opens the world of an astrologist.

Having read it a few times I do get the feeling that you could have used more of the grey matter idea, and brought in some more universally understood concepts in the poetry!
But there are a lot of lines I really like never the less.

Mistake... hehehe
Well, upon posting this, and later playing it through,  I found that the repeated chorus is not necessary...

Thanks for the comments...
Inspiration for the song, actually, I was reading through a forum when I noticed kings mention these words, in context with some universal space between planets or something. So I thought 'that would be a cool topic for a song', and so, I wrote some chords, played some riffs, wrote lyrics, changed this and that, and BOOM! there it was.

Also, kings, I used the term grey matter to resemble the human brain, as that is how I've always seen it, but what you are talking about, this unknown substance in space, I don't know much about it, and thought it was called dark matter...

Furthermore, yes this is an upbeat, jumpy song, quick riffs, kind of attitude, minor tonality thing. I'm quite pleased how this turned out, like you said, I could have used some deeper poetry, but I find it works well to balance between lyrics, vocal harmony and instrumental parts. Well, that works for me anyways...

Cheers, guys.

I also used to call it Dark Matter, and it sounds better too, but I was in a conversation about the said 'matter' and the other person called it Grey Matter and I thought he knew more than I did about the matter so I called it Grey Matter too, maybe it doesn't matter after all?
Poetically speaking 'Dark Matter' is good though!

BTW I'm humbled to think some sarcastic comment of mine inspired so much! thanks.
