The Meaning Of Life
The page this was written on is very messy now. I used a chord progression I had for a while, but never found a good song for. i think this song turned out pretty well (I also tried to keep it all in one perspective, kings  ). I tried to sound poetic with this one too (I've been reading your comments, and threads...).
I'd like to know what you think of this one.

The Meaning of Life

Intro

I think it's time,
To have a proper introduction,
I'll take my time,
You take the silence for abduction,
Here we go,
About to step through to the unknown,
Here we go,
Time to take this path that we're shown,

Verse

Here we go, let's begin,
The door of life, step right in,
No-one knows, what's within,
Meaning of life, no-one wins,

Here we go, let's begin,
The door of life, step right in,
No-one knows, what's within,
Meaning of life, no-one wins,

Chorus

This life we lead, this life we lose,
This soul will bleed, for something good,
This life we risk, to cut the knife,
That keeps us from, the meaning of life,

This life we lead, this life we lose,
This soul will bleed, for something good,
This life we risk, to cut the knife,
That keeps us from, the meaning of life,

Verse

Here we go, with burning rage,
Your cold hard hands will turn the page,
I keep an eye, for something fresh,
A bitter night to pass the test,

Here we go, with burning rage,
Your cold hard hands will turn the page,
I keep an eye, for something fresh,
A bitter night to pass the test,

Verse

Here we go, the final test,
To prove we're better than the rest,
Open up, step within,
Pandora's box and then we'll win,

The lies we heard, we're up for show,
Conceal the truth, we'll never know,
The time is past, I'm standing down,
The search and helm is handed down,

Chorus

This life we lead, this life we lose,
This soul will bleed, for something good,
This life we risk, to cut the knife,
That keeps us from, the meaning of life,

The choice we make, we know it's wrong,
We have to search until we're gone,
The life we risk, to cut the knife,
Is never worth the meaning of life.

Sounds good
Does it really mean anything? Serious question. It sounds more like a half-meant stab at how we look for lifes meaning. And it's well done if that is all it is. Sort of reminds me of an Emerson, Lake and Palmer lyric in that regard (showing my age).

But lyrically it is pleasing, and it could make a crowd happy

Time to nit pick the sentence structure. There is no need for the comma in, "That keeps us from, the meaning of life" It's not important to keep the structire of a comma in every line of the verse, and this one doesn't belong.

I also do this, it helps me to read/sing it back, it might not be necessary in poetry but to a song I think it's part of the lyric structure.

I'll tell you the only bit that bugs me is the "to cut the knife" know what I mean!
I wouldn't like to say that the choices I make are wrong though I can relate to feeling that they might be!
I like this, but it has to be done in a way that would make it 'an answer' in its self!
I hear the 'master of ceremonies' being 'the character' to sing it in any case!

It's about moving through the curtains of life to get to her 'inner chamber', the answer to all!
It's also done to the Lucifer perspective, the light bringer, the theatrical 'goats play', the Rock and Roll ritual of welcoming you to heaven. Know what I mean!
I've written in this style, but a long time ago, it has a certain arrogance in it and needs that certain arrogance/cockiness to perform, if you ask me!
I'd sing it but I'd have to do a bit of my own editing if I would!

Thanks for your comments,
as kings pointed out, the comma there isn't for punctuality, it's just for the phrasing  to get a general picture of how it goes.
As for the line, "to cut the knife"- what I was thinking there is a kind of guillotine that (hmmm... what am I saying) like in an Indiana Jones movie, the swinging Guillotine, that is a kind of obstacle if you may, and to cut the knife, oh what the hell, I don't know what I'm saying, (I'm just reversing the effect of the knife upon itself, without any sense at all, but I don't know what would fit, suggestions?)

Cheers!

Mmmm!
What about :

This life we lead, this life we lose,
This soul will bleed, for something good,
This life we risk, that living might,
That keeps us from, the meaning of life,

Its meant to be a double meaning to tie it together!
But I must say that I cant get my head away from Monty Python the life of Brian and "The meaning of life"
Aaa magic words again! They have been said in a certain way so much, you have to say them more to 'get them back'!

You know kings...
I might just do that, it fits in a lot better with the meanings etc. and as for the monty python guys, that has nothing at all to do with this "he's not the messiah, he's a very naughty boy!"-Brian's mum. Love those movies
Thanks kings, with your guiding words, where would I be without you?

Cheers!
