On the contrary...
I find that my lyrics are always poetic and based on emotions and turn out more abstract and surreal, never an actual story. If I do write something based upon events, it's not exactly clear, it's more like, this is what I feel when this happens... although you can't tell what happens.
(Come to think of it, my last lyric posted here is kind of like a story...)

As for your style, I don't think you're the only one who writes like that... and this style is certainly a great way to write, so just keep at it, and if you're worried about people not hearing a tune along with it, it's nothing! The lyrics secion is only really about having your words looked at, when I'm reading the lyrics, I'd just read them. And it's not just because of the style you write, I'm practically the opposite in style, and I bet no one can get a melody going with my lyrics without direction.

Actually, I find these lyrics
"And on Monday it rains on our parade
'Cause the real world is no place for this love

In the morning I would like to wake with you
But I'm a lonely man with his dreams of islands in the sun"

I particularly like the second song...

Godd job  , and who says we have to write in the same old styles anyhow.
