Photo of my heart

There’s an old photo on my desk
Next to the computer and all the mess
But all that clutter couldn’t hide the smiles
Of kids who though they had all the time
Funny faces and screwed up expressions
Kisses and hugs and long life lessons

My heart beat to the song
Of the boy with the curly hair
And a guitar that he loved to strum
I pretended not to notice him
He laughed and pretended he didn’t care
Secretly I wished he’d smile my way
Then it seemed some one heard my prayer

He took my hand and my heart
Held it carefully from the start
i could  close my eyes
And suddenly I knew I could fly
On my soul he left his impressions
on his heart I left my confessions

Bridge

Suddenly time ran out
Boarded a flight that would take me back
It was something we couldn’t lie about
And that brown eyed boy took my hand
i knew he would miss me,
and i him, with out a doubt

Now im back in this city
And sometimes I lie in self-pity
Wondering if that boy ever thinks of me
But then I look around and see
Hes touched my life like no other
Not like my friends, father or even my mother
I smile and think to my self
Of those memories that lay dusty on my shelf

There’s an old photo on my desk
Next to the computer and all the mess
But all that clutter couldn’t hide the smiles
Of kids who though they had all the time
Funny faces and screwed up expressions
Kisses and hugs and long life lessons

My heart beat to the song
Of the boy with the curly hair
And a guitar that he loved to strum
I pretended not to notice him
He laughed and pretended he didn’t care
Secretly I wished he’d smile my way
Then it seemed some one heard my prayer

These lyrics are wicked, prefer them to that angel watching over you song. Your an extremely good lyric writer. Not great but only because you need more practise. That lack of is the only thing holding you back imo. Better than my stuff anyway.
Keep up the good work man,
KI

i paticularly like this line:

But all that clutter couldn’t hide the smiles
Of kids who though they had all the time

...a timeless piece of truth...

Awwww:D

Good song.

I can't help but smile at it.

Needs a light acoustic track in the background.

Paper you are a great songwriter!

Do you have music to this lyric?
Its a nice poem but it is a really good lyric. So you think they could be better? You might find the right lines come out and fall into place when you get music to it and start singing it?
There are some nice lines in there and some good rhymes too.
It moves forwards as well as holding the moment!
