Careful, He Knows Too Much
this is probably a better poem, but i was putting music to it a long time ago, so i figured that i`d post it just to see what you think.  i don`t consider this my best work, by any means.  I`m posting it simply because it`s been sitting around for a while.  mostly, i just like a few particular lines from it.

so, lemme know what you think :P you can tear it apart if you want

"Careful, He Knows Too Much"

The snow lightly covers here
A vast, misty landscape
My mind lies, cold and hidden
You, the spring time and my wishes
could cure me of this sickening display

This life is big enough for me
but I just can`t seem to get settled in
I`m restless, and your waiting, for me to come around
this is my last chance before the next time
I let you down;  I`ll let you down, I know

I stand here, alone
On my slightly worn wooden floor
Do I believe you, or do I believe your lips?
The falling leaves in pouring rain...
Reminds me of last year`s parade

This life is big enough for me
but I just can`t seem to believe that this is home
I`m restless, and you`re waiting
for me to knock on your door
with good news in hand, before the next time
I let you down; Why do we do this?  I don`t know

Parade of hearts, in numerical order
of how many roses they`ve claimed
Roses are red, and violets are blue
Red is for second place
...and people like you
The blues tell the stories of the boy behind the curtain
He runs the show;
He knows every single one of your lines
He`s heard it in rehearsal
He`s resigned to knowing how not to get burned, over who knows his heart.

"Poor kids," he says as he stands there, alone
On his slightly worn wooden floor
Does he believe you?
Do I believe you?
The fallen leaves in pouring rain...
Reminds me of last year`s parade

We`re gonna stay like this forever
I hope one day I realize,
Who`s writing your lines
So I can knock him down,
Find a pen,
To give you a heart
So you can leave mine alone
Leave mine alone...  I need it too much

I need to find the reason why
Autumn burns my eyes
Why we get second chances, I`ll never know
Just when I thought I understood,
Your eyes distract me
I need the reasons why lovers never win
I need the answers to the blue days I feel inside
My heart tells me I never died
So why am I standing here in slightly worn shoes?
I don`t have the answers, the dreamers never do
I`m spinning out, tiring out
I`ve got a pen, and I don`t know how to use it
We`ve all got one, the dreamers and I

What a strangely wonderful piece!
I like the last bit, we've all got a pen,
Pen is head in Welsh, thought you might like to know.

The writer is trapped within his own understanding that he is trapped by her love!

So he hates the fact that hes writing such a beautiful piece of poetry about the very thing he knows he cant have, but knows it like no other!

I decided a while back that I didn't like men being too 'sloppy' and 'soft' in songs, like "Baby I miss you I'm nothing without you etc etc",
your ; 'I let you down;  I`ll let you down, I know' is edging that way for me because you repeat it, if you would have said it once I would have accepted it but to make a point and then do it again and that point being a 'negative' point too!
You've got to have balls, and know how to use them, we've all got some, the dreamers and I.

I just read this once, and it needs more readings. Sounds like TS Elliot. Hmmmmm...TLS, TSE. Close, but no connection, is there? This isn't the DaVinci Code, is it? ........sorry, carried away for a second.

Okay, well I can tell this is old, because you hadn't yet learned to spell. I don't know your age, but if you wrote this beautifully a long time ago, you must be really old.

It's very thoughtful and poetic and beautiful. I'll write more after I read it a few more times.
