Love Spring
There’s an answer I’ve been searching for
My quest for knowledge drove me out the door
Alone in nature I became so alert
I found a clue growing under the dirt . . .

Was there a seed planted in my heart?
Were you the sunshine that gave it a start?
I want to know one simple thing -
From where does love spring?

If it’s a gift that the gods endow
I still don’t understand the why and the how
A wiser man would surely see
If I found love, or if love found me

(interlude)

Two children growing - soon to be gone
I vowed to love you back when life still seemed long
I'll stay beside you right to the end
Then I’d do it all over again

‘Cause when you touch me I still get all shook up
My fingers tremble ‘round my coffee cup
And my heart still trembles at the happiness you bring
From where does love spring?

From where does love spring?
What a beautiful poem.
I like it all but for the first verse, it seams out of place or maybe the rest is more natural and to the point somehow!
I can hear the last 4 verses being sung.

Maybe your hart could 'sing' of the happiness you bring, not only does it rhyme it also eliminates the repeating of 'tremble'?

repeating, repeating. repeating. repeating...
Thanks for liking it! I wrote it to my wife for her B-Day!
I like the first verse, though I wouldn't call it important. It's more a whimsical setup for the rest, than anything else. I like the transition from the 'clue under the dirt', to the 'seed planted'. I think the third verse is the weaker one, but it works. The meat is obviously in verses 2, 4 and 5. 1 and 3 are just to round it out. The repetition of the word "trembles" (verse 5)is intentional, and ties in the reference to the sensual (my hand trembling at her touch, line 3) to the reference to the emotional (my heart trembling at the happiness she brings me, line 4). I like that part
