Invisible Man... |
This is a first draft. Any suggestions or comments?
Invisible Man
Passing by the same man
third time today
Looks just like the rest
A guitar in hand
case resting at his feet
Blue eyes reach through the crowd
Looks me in my eyes
I keep on walking
And he smiles
third time today
I'd never know him for who he is
Or even care for who he was
Or hear the song he had to play
But he was smiling anyway
Cus, he's our invisible man
Only he knows where he's been
Only he knows what he's seen
All alone and surrounded
He's our invisible man
Flashbacks of those days
are his television
The voices passing
his radio
He can only imagine
World without sin
and what has been
What he can't see with his eyes
He's 20/20 with his heart
He'll sing his song with his soul
just strum his song of freedom
The best song you'll never hear
It's the best song you'll never hear
Cus, he's our invisible man
Only he knows where he's been
Only he knows what he's seen
All alone and surrounded
He's our invisible man
Glass buildings reflecting the sun
Busy streets still on the run
Another day passes us by
And we never think to ask why
That silent singer is gone
From where he used to stand
between those two tall towers
And now a college band
is there singing about nothing
As it was made to be
By the man we could not see
Cus, he's our invisible man
Only he knows where he's been
Only he knows what he's seen
All alone and surrounded
He's our invisible man
All alone and surrounded
He's our invisible man

"What he can't see with his eyes
He's 20/20 with his heart"
I love that. It can be very metaphoric or it can work realistically.
I like the general direction of the song. I personally think its really deep minded writing.
I really like the chorus. I would love to here it put to music. What kind did you have in mind??

I didn't have any at first. I was just writing about the fact that we consider homeless as invisible and in this instance it was a war vet trying to play songs to make it by. He was never noticed but he didn't mind, he was just happy to hear people pass him by. The song was also written as a reminder of what sacrifices were made and what sacrifices will be made in the future.
This is why the man was playing under the two towers and when he was gone(died) there were college students playing carefree where he once stood.
...his not being there is a symbol for things to come....his song of freedom was not to be heard and soon those college kids might have to take up where he left off singing his song of freedom.
So yeah, it was just to get an idea down...but I had the priveledge of listening to some of JosephgVincent's songs such as Thank You and Wing Song.
I think something along the lines of that would fit it well. I can hear it in my head now Check those songs out when you have the chance!
Anyways, I better stop talking and get to bed...
If anyone has ideas for this, go nuts.
Caio!
