My other problem is recording audio. Is it possible to record outside audio to a single track in the mixer without everything routing to the master so I can edit individual tracks after recording?

In your FX mixer select and insert that isn't a master i.e insert 1 and there it says 'in - (none) in the top right, set that as your soundcard insert, then in the effects load edison as an effect, when you hit record it will record external sources plugged into your soundcard/mic in, you can also add changes that make it play on input after 4 beat counts etc
