How to make a cheap-ass folding guitar stand. |
If price is a problem, here's a cheapo alternative.
You will need...
A piece of scrap wood(or MDF/chipboad/similar) approx 50x30x1.5cm (20x12x5/8 in).
(This can be adapted as necessary for other instruments)
A saw
A drill
A screwdriver.
A hinge (not essential)
Short screws to attach the hinge.
Some cloth
Some glue
A piece of string
Cut your wood into two (roughly) identical pieces as shown.
Join the edges marked with 3 dots with your hinge.
OR
Place the pieces together, and glue some cloth from one side, over the 2 marked edges and on to the other.
Once the glue has set, open flat, then glue some more cloth across the other side.
For added durability stitch the bits of cloth together through the hinge line.
Drill holes somewhere around the single dots. Thread a piece of string between them.
Adjust the length of the string to a little less than the width of your guitar.
Tie knots at both ends to stop it slipping through the holes, and trim off any extra.
Glue some material along the cut edges to protect your guitar.
Le voila!
