driver
To start off, I need to warn you; this is not a music-related post, although it is hardware related. If I am overstepping the boundaries of this forum, I apologize and will delete it immediately.

If I may.......

OK. I bought this connector on ebay; one end is standard USB, and the other is the female end of and xbox controller port, so I can plug my xbox controller into the computer and use it as a mouse. However, it didn't come with any driver or software (the listing claimed it was not necessary).

So, I am I screwed, or is there a way I can get my computer to recognize this new hardware?

Again, I'm really sorry if this is inappropriate.

So your pc doesn't see the device?
And whats the thing called, a number on the back also helps some times, what I'm getting at is have you made a search on line to see what comes up?

Well, it does see it per se. But it doesn't know what is is. All it knows is that it's a USB device, and it says that the driver has not been installed properly...understandable since there was no driver.

hey bro,
I may be back tracking here. (back masking)
but have you tried to find an mfg website
of the interface company?? sometimes,
in fact according to federal law, the company
is supposed to provide or at least make available
parts and literature pertaining to anything they
sell to the public... alot of times you'll find the
companies have some sort of driver download
area on their website if drivers are needed...
Ok again you may have already checked,
but thought I would inquire..

Blessings,

Dan

OK! The Xbox controller is yours already, and you have bought a 'connector' on e-bay??? Yes?No?

The connecting cable doesn't need a driver!
If the xbox is yours you should have some paperwork/cdrom ??? maybe!

Have you been on line and made a search about the issue, put some brand names and keywords into google and just see what it turns up!

I know this sounds real obvious but a) with so little info nobody can really help you out. WE NEED NAMES BOY!!! lol
and b) If your 'controller' is meant to be able to be a mouse then there should be info about it out there in 'controller info land'! so we over hear don't get why you over there don't go and get your own info! get it? lol

I went looking and found ... very little, well some thing but no real answer!

Here's my google search
You might think of better keywords to try.
Well my conclusion is, it's either real simple or really complicated!
So simple I didn't see it or too complicated that I didn't want to dig any deeper! lol

Thank you all for help....... it was quite useful. The problem seems to have been solved, don't ask me exactly how....

I will do that, Jim. Just today my friend and I made great progress on a really cool song, very Doors-influenced.

I really like the Doors.
