i use the motu usb fast lane but there are a bunch of them .. emagic has one ..but it wouldn't work on my computer for some reason.  with the motu fast lane i didn't even need the driver the computer saw it right away.. it hooks up  usb to the computer then hook up your midi cables  in to out ..out to in and you should be good to go .. if you want you can learn more about midi and set certain sounds on certain channels.. like drums are usually on channell 10 and  piano sometimes on 1 ect..  but  you can just set if for general midi if you keyboards has that
which it should..   also there is a ton of midi info on the internet for free you just have to hunt around and read some ..

if you want to write with fl and have it played on your keyboard, you will need to turn local control off on your keyboard, that take the keys, and disables them from the sound generator so you computer software, or whatever can control the sound generator.

I have an 'old' Creative LiveDrive 2 Audio Sound card with a front panel, it has a Midi In on the front, I have a Roland keyboard with a Midi-out on the back : Midi-Out is plugged into Midi-In !
To 'connect' a program that uses Midi (FL/Cubase) and the keyboard, find the Midi Options for that program and select the sound card / your interface as Input. When you then select a channel/sample in FL and hit the keyboard it should just play the sound.

Once your there with your keyboard look out for the 2 different ways of setting up how samples/notes are played, I'm not too sure of FL but in Cubase I can have some instruments playing the whole range of notes all along the keyboard while other instruments (samplers) will play a different sample under every separate key.
This can also sometimes be set-up in the instruments themselves.
