how else do you record?

oooh ok. cubase works very good. im not really sure iunderstand your question but you can record in either of those programs

Check the audio midi setup on your computer should find sound card ,preferences

yup. if you have more than one sound card you have tor tell the computer which soundcard  to use and/ or the recording software which driver to use.

go to Edit and then Preferences in Audacity.

Or click Start>control panal>sounds and audio devices>audio tab

Then in the recording section you can select which soundcard you want to record from plus midi etc.
That should work.
