I have a xenyx 1202 mixer that I run into Audacity, but everytime I record I seem to get a hissing sound, could someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I need more info... what all are you running into the mixer?

  Truthfully, if it's the hiss that I heard in your song in the battle, it's probably the pc fan picked up by the mic.. believe me it's louder than you think..  I have MAJOR hiss, I just use Cool Edit to remove much of the hiss... it takes time and practice, but you can clean it up a lot without any corruption of the sound..

well I thought it was the computer too, and it may as well be part, but when I just put headphones into the mixer and turn the volume up on a channel that has nothing plugged in I still hear it but I'll look into the cool edit stuff

cheap mixer ( i have one similar) signal to noise ratio sucks.

I have the XENYX 1204FX and I dont get that at all
