I'm new to this whole computer recording process.....been playing guitar for nearly about 4 years..... but never tried to record anything......

can any one suggest me what things i should put up together to begin the recording procedure...

my friend plugs his guitar and records straight to the computer... so i have no idea how he does that... and never had any chance to ask him how he does that... all he said was i need a mixer and software.. but what kind of software...

any help will be highly appreciated..

check the recording forum, threads started by entheon. he has a great first timers recording setup listed...

spoiler: a usb audio interface for computer, a multitrack program (Kristal is free and very good entrance level) and then vst's (virtual effect plugins) to use in that program, in that forum you can find links to free vst's that are actually good.

but read the recording forum... lots and lots and lots of interesting information there
