Dual Monitors
Not the type where you hear yourself again, I am talking simple displays.  I record using my laptop and found we had an old 800x600 monitor lying around, so i set it up in my basement with my recording equipment and plugged it into my laptop expecting to project my laptops image instead onto the new screen.  Much to my surprise it instead extended my desktop onto this new screen.  I tell ya, it has opened up an entire new world of recording for me.  The number of things you can do in terms of editing and even just simple large scale tab displays on one screen while working on somethign else on the other is amazing.  So the entire point of this post is if you have a graphics card that supports split screen (and most do nowadays) and an extra screen plugin (or a laptop), BUY A CHEAP SECOND HAND MONITOR.  You will be amazed.

with Pro Tools
...especially useful with Pro Tools (all flavours) 'cos you can run the edit window on one monitor & the mix window on the other.
