I just wrote a little routine to send a remind via email to members if

1. their last login is 3 months ago
AND
2. there are any songs listed
AND
3. their last remind is 3 months ago OR never been reminded

The reason why I did this was to re-activate these members to show that

                         BandAMP lives!

When I went through the member's music shown in the birthday list I realized that there has been sooo much potential among us.

Now I need a nice text in the content of this mail (i.e. "hey... we're missing you...")

Anyone out there proposing a subject and a suitable content?

In a first run I counted 680 members who will receive the first BandAMP Reminder

Sounds like a goodish idea...I personally dont like continuous reminders from sites I just happen to sign in to.
What about every 6 months....with a friendly message......I bet you a lot will block the sender....I do when they start to piss me off.

I suppose you know more about it than me but, did the bandAmp server not get labeled a spammer when it started sending out lots of automated mail? This was a couple of years back though.....slasherx time...

I know what you mean with the spammer thing. The first run could be splitted into several actions to avoid that.
But I will start googling bout this

BandAMP never had a reminder. Once they received a mail they gonna get a new one when 3 months (or 6 or whatsoever) passed.

on the other hand you receive a mail on every reply to your thread....(almost daily)

The message can contain a link to delete your account

Or when you mail them ask them if they want to be removed form your emails, create a simple link.
I think so long as they still remember bandAMP, most members wont mind getting the odd email, well that's how it would effect me anyway.

Yeah I think it's a good idea.

I can create a check box in your profile for receive notifying emails
So you can decide by yourself

Just had another idea:
Why not  send a yearly anniversary mail with the date of join?
So the member gets only one mail per year...
"You joined....  bla bla    .... Thank you for being a part of the community for 3 years now" or sth. like that

and (!)
you can turn it off, if you want

   
Funny but I dont think we have to be SO polite.

I really like the idea of an anniversary reminder.....
"Thank you for being a part of the community for 3 years now,
you've been sent this automated reminder because you have not signed in at the Amp for the last year.
Have you been making some new music recently or developing your style?

I can't really contribute anything to this, but Triton, you have a great idea here!

Also, Kings' post before this has a good reminder message, which I think isn't extremely polite, but not too disrespectful or "spam-like" either.

LOL TK .. I havent been here for two days, I open the forum to lots of red threads.....first one I look at is in Tech Support .... would you believe it "How do I delete my account" !!!

There could be fundamental problem here in that most of these 'old' members dont even know or think of bandAmp any more and that they have no idea of their member names or passwords either. 

But it still is the kick that the site needs......good job TK.
