Crumblin Down |
This song is from a few years ago. I've always loved Samson and Delilah as a subject and it feels like perfect fodder for songwriters. Here's my take I guess. Thanks again for listening, nice to be back.
Oh Delilah
To think that love could be so tricksome
Right when you finally found it
Oh my god who knew the vines could uproot such a sturdy tree?
Why'd I let you cut all my hair?
Trade my locks for mocking, stocks, and chains?
I think I'm gonna stretch my arms just a little bit wider
Reach just a little bit wider
And then we'll see
I think I'm gonna push with the force of the heavens
The mighty heavens
And then we'll see
who's still laughin'
When it all, comes crumblin' down
Crumblin' down
Who knew Delilah
A heart of coal could beat so warmly
Why'd I fall
For the oldest trick in the book?
Before I was born
My mother was barren
So she prayed to god
God please give me a son
And oh my god if she could see me now
I think I'm gonna stretch my arms just a little bit wider
Reach just a little bit wider
And then we'll see
I think I'm gonna push with the force of the heavens
The mighty heavens
And then we'll see
who's still laughin'
When it all, comes crumblin' down
Crumblin' down
Oh Delilah
To think that love could be so tricksome
Oh Delilah
To think that love could be so tricksome
Right when you finally found it
