Cover of Mega Man X2 Zero |
This is one of my favorite video game songs ever. Its a Super Nintendo riff that is seriously no more than 15 seconds long and set to repeat, but the emotional context was huge. It was the first time the game series stole away one of your allies and made you fight him head to head.
It could probably use some adjustments, but I love the core! All of the remixes out there never satisfied me, so here is mine.
Here is a faithful reproduction of the source material (you have been warned, it is literally like 15 seconds on repeat)

And for bonus content, here's the one for Mega Man X3 that I did:

Wow - you made this sound truly massive!
Admittedly I missed out on the Megaman stuffs - I am a C64 guy myself, rolled straight into PC at the end of the 1980s, no gaming computer upgrade (as the PC had games, though it took ages before we got a soundcard! )
but I do appreciate a passionate chiptune remix, oh yes!
Great job!

Thanks! I was pretty young when the Nintendo stuff first hit the market. My grandmother bought me the original NES the way grandparents often blindly buy the things the TV says are good for kids, but it turned out great. I only got to go back and experience the C64 through emulation, which of course isnt quite as fun as really living it.
I got a notification from a Fish reply too, but the apostrophe monster swallowed it:

Analogue Fish
where is my controller? dang game hung up , gotta pull out the catridge again. lol Love the cover. solid production.. Lots of great sounds in this.
Thanks guys! Yeah... tons of yanking cartridges in my day, and hopeful blowing into the end to make the blinking black and colored screen stop. I wanted to do this particular song for so long but knew I was too dumb with FL or Logic Pro to get it done. Hopefully I got it good enough to capture the energy!
I probably won't spam this out as another upload, but if it tickles anybody, here's the Mega Man X3 "cover" (these are really pretty loose for covers, more like reimaginings, given how much melody I'm inventing in order to carry it as a proper song)
