A Song For Joyce | ![]() ![]() ![]() |
I wrote this song in 1983 when I was in college. There was a girl I liked, Joyce. There is not a lot of production on this. Just the bare minimum for an idea.
Rich tone on the Sax - Would have liked to have heard it with more ambience, think it would suit the mood better.
Overall sounds nice, but yeah a full on production would have done it justice.
So did your fondness of Joyce blossom to a romance of any kind? Have you played her this song?

That was 4 and a half minutes of some pretty good sax, man. I like the bass too, especially for the attention it gives to the beat. Nice and simple.
Did you ever have a concept for lyrics on this, or was it always meant to be instrumental?

I got stuck in the friend zone. But after I left school I had not more contact. She liked the song (I think). She was a flute player, so we played it together with me on piano. She was a really nice girl.

Music in general is the best medicine IMO
Sax indeed conveys emotion like no other instrument can.
Very nice track indeed.
